    Cal Expo Gun Show

Im sure that MANY people made their way to CAL EXPO for the gun show today. Any thoughts on how it went? Were there any good deals on AR related items? Was it worth the entrance and parking fee?

Personally I will be heading up to reno this comming thursday for the reno gun show. Of course just to look at all the nice AR accessories.

I thought it was pretty lame.... Only a couple of good venders, but just a lot of ****.

3 buildings my rear. People need to learn how to count.

I thought the show was pretty decent for a post-ban show. Loved the obligatory body armor guy proclaiming a ban on body armor was imminent and his was 50% off. I was tempted by the AR-10 uppers and some of the cool M-4 rigs that this other guys had. Too pricey though.

But Sonoma Firearms had some decent prices on A2 uppers and A2 parts. Considering a trip to Reno is going to cost me in terms of gas and lodging... and anything ordered online will cost me in terms of shipping, I jumped on it.

About 2 hours later I had gotten home and built up my A2 rifle. Here's what went into it:

          Armalite A2 Upper
          Armalite LPK
An old Mil Surplus A2 buttstock
ARMS #39A just so I could throw on my EOTech 552

I'm going to hit the range tommorrow and test it out. I built it up into a fixed mag configuration, but I've ordered a muzzlebreak for it also so I can build it up into a detachable mag version later.

On a side note: where can I get those old school triangular A1 grips ?

7.62x54R was the only ammo selling for a decent price

$49 for 440 rd tin $89 for a case [two tins inside a wooden crate]

a guy had some nice mechanical SEIKO diver's watches for around $165 - $175 [brand new]

              lots of junk tables

very few SKS rifles, mostly YUGOs, didnt see any Chinese SKS's, no Russian SKS's in the entire show either

I only saw one M44 carbine in the entire show! and it was a very used one with no finish for $150 [dated 1954] arsenal 11 in a circle

lots of dealers selling cheap knock off Samurai swords

the book vendor had a good selection of gun related books as usual

              several bayonet and militaria vendors

the guy selling body armor had a sign on his table warning people body armor will soon be banned!

the M1 carbine man was there with his $1,800 M1 carbines

I didnt buy anything and left the show empty handed

I parked across the street for free parking

admission was $7.00 with a dollar off coupon

I noticed most stuff was over priced? a guy trying to sell a $20 surplus helmet for $40

WWII US combat helmet = $175

              folding Italian bayonet = $180

did you get your upper at the show?

btw, there was an older guy at Sac Valley with a colt A1. Detachable mag+scope. Didn't see that one comming.

That's the sales strategy body armor guys have been using for the past 10+ years. Heck as far back as I can remember they've been using those high pressure tactics.

Now if they said it was a California ban then maybe I'd pay attention. Nah, it's just Dianne Feinstein and John McCain trying to push a bill to ban body armor sales. Almost hillarious when you think about it... while it's a well documented fact that Feinstein used way too much LSD in the 60s and lives in a socialist fantasy world, it's FUTILE to even think that a congress that just let the Assault Weapon ban sunset would consider banning Body Armor.
