I know, I know...I need to ! I just haven't thought about it seriously enough to research it yet.

After competing in my first 3 gun match, I grew to despise shotguns. They all suck. lol

A plain Jane defense shotgun is fun to own and shoot a few times but shotguns like that quit being fun real quick. On the other hand a nice trap, clays, or skeet gun is a great way to have fun with beautiful guns. You can't own too many or too nice a shotgun.

here is my 590 HD shotgun/range toy with original knoxx specops stock and power pack. i have a mossberg 500 JIC 2 in jail right now and a blackhawk knoxx specops folder, mossberg heatshield kit, and a sling that holds 15 shells being shipped to me. when the mossy 500 is all put together it will take over as my main HD shotgun. the 590 is great but the 20 inch barrel is hard to move around with in small rooms and hallways.

Nice 590 you have there mossy.

I think it has more to do with the fact that there is not much to be said. Shotguns are rather simple creatures, not as fancy as AR's, you're never going to see someone asking "what shotgun for shooting at 1000 yards", and they generally just work.

Shotguns like the former, I view them purely as tools. I dont need it, but I would love an old American made 1300 Defender.

And I concur with your comment about the later. Been meaning to get out there and go shoot some trap.

But when we go out we have to share it, so for Father's Day she got me the shotgun I originally wanted but couldn't justify at the time. I got it in a 32" after some advice from others. It will be a dedicated trap gun and I am a tall guy so I figured why not.

Pick it up in a week. Got a date scheduled with the wife on Sunday to try it out. Can't wait.
Jeezbus! 32 inch barrel!? i stuck with the 28 inch barrel, considered the 26 and now i kinda want to shorten it haha i use mine for hunting and it likes to hang up on branchs. your wife is awesome! ya you will def like thgun, easy to disassmble, easy to clean and shoots FAST! i want a second one as a deer gun, too bad i dont have an extra 1300 bucks for a second one (19 and going to college) sometimes i regret spending that much on my first gun but then i fire it and realize how much i love it and how solid it is. of course i could sell my other guns to purchase a second one but i love all those guns too. Winchester 1300s are such wonderful shotguns!!!

I run a Remmy 870 now, but I still think the 1300 is better (not as easy to get parts for anymore).

For a Trap gun 32" is not long and has its place. Your wife made a good choice.

If I'm just going to shoot slugs then I might as well just shoot a rifle.
Matcalf Shooting range in San Jose...any legal shotgun can be used on the clays.

I love all guns; shotguns, rifles, pistols... However this month for some reason I have been on a shotgun binge. Brought two of them home tonight after being in jail for eleven days and my third one (VANGCOMP 870) comes in Wednesday. Have all my MESA parts here waiting and already put some parts on the tactical 870 to make it a pistol grip. Now just need two more surefire forend lights, a KSG (When it drops in price) and a Benelli M4 and I will be good on the shotguns. Nothing like a good tactical shotgun.
