Just discovered the best place to get fruits and veggies to use as targets..The 99 cent only store!

They have small watermelons for a buck. They are pretty close to the size of a human head! Also can get 5lb bags of potato for a buck. Lots of other melons as well, all for a buck!

For cheap paper targets, can't beat a pack of paper plates with a dot drawn in the middle.

So it is official, the 99 cent store is now my new target source!

I thought you were going to talk about biodegradable shooting clays. $10 for a box of 90.

Although not biodegradable, soda cans and water bottles are fun to make dance. Just take them with you when you're done.

A popular target in our class is an Oreo-style cookie at 25m, affixed with a T-pin to a standard backer. Subtends about 6 MOA, reactive, cheap, and doubles as a snack.

I posted the same thread awhile back, on another board. Lot's of good idea's, including those posted above.
A couple other good ideas are a box of crackers, and those nasty rice cackes. They can be attached to a backer with a little peanut butter, or hung from a line using close pins. All of which can be picked up at the $.99 (target) store. The critters will eat after you leave.

I use ground squirrels. They are reactive - splat, splosh, pop! Sometimes they completely disappear leaving hardly any trace other than a liver or paw or some other anatomical delight. Some turn to biological paint drying in the hot summer sun - they are all referred to as having entered the Vortex - a place beyond sight and sound where oblivion awaits. They are recycled by the cleanup crew that arrives within minutes, ravens, magpies, vultures, an occasional hawk, osprey, or bald eagle. Other squirrels join in snarfing their fallen comrades, only to enter the Vortex themselves; cannibalism demands .220 Swift justice. Nothing is ever left by the next day.

Wow, I like these ideas! Now, mine is not quite so bio-degradable so I do pick up afterwards. But, I might be a little twisted - I like to shoot stuffed toys.
