Do you keep your shooting spots a secret?

I do. I have quite a few good spots in the NF, but the popular ones get continually wrecked, and am worried if I share the locations, the others will get wrecked as well.

Am I paranoid? Should I trust my fellow calgunners?

In the bay area there are only so many secret spots. It would help if everyone cleaned up after a day of shooting.

Going by how many places get shut down, I'd keep mine secret too if I had any.

It's really unfortunate, but never give up a secret spot. It will only get thrashed...
            Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

Nope. It would be kind of hard to hide when its pretty much what I do every day.

Have a few NF spots I enjoy, but they definitely aren't secret. It drives me nuts when I see shooting spots that are trashed.

Bit of thread drift, but semi-related story -- I've noticed my favorite spot has been in much better shape the last few times I've gone. I always bring a couple of trash bags and haul out much more than I bring in, and assumed it was other "good" gunners doing the same.

Last time I got up there, saw a couple of guys wandering around in my favorite spot, picking stuff up. I pulled up to thank them for cleaning up, and we started chatting ... turns out they were "scrappers" (aka tweakers) and have been hitting all the shooting spots in the area to collect bottles, cans, and brass.

I know, "cool story, bro," but I thought it was fairly imaginative of those "scrappers," and if it helps keep shooting areas clean and open, I'm all for it.

I just found me a new spot. It's five minutes from my house, I have it set up to shoot out to 1000 yards and could go further if I wanted. You can't tell anyone shoots there and I never see anyone there. Two of my close friends have shot there with me but they know to keep it a secret. I would never let my spot out to anyone that I'm not close with. If you are serious about shooting you would do the work and put in the time to find your own secret spot. When you have to work to get something you appreciate it more and will take care of it. When people just tell others they don't care and just trash places. Most people just suck at life.

I have driven close to 1500 miles in San Diego and Imperial counties in the past couple of years with my dog, a cooler and a 1/2 dozen or so BLM and topo maps. I have found several spots, and as much as I'd like to, I don't share them. I have however invited a couple of fellow Cal gunners to come out in the fall.

No secrets spots yet but if i did have any, it'll be a secret too. I would only share with close friends that are responsible n mature. I will share with cgnnrs only if they are well known to have such responsibilities and being able to keep the place a secret.

YES, those sob's that goes out and trash nf shootn spots SUCK AT LIFE. How you wonder what their homes inside out looks like. I'd love to pickup thier garbage they've left and dump it on their beds.
