I need to get one, not any time soon. Previous owner of my stainless put plenty in it before I bought it, but when I finally get around to having it refinished I will want to protect that.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L Mencken

The weapon CAN be reassembled without scratching it. No devices needed. Just take your time.Comment

If your slide stop is that hard to insert, a simple mod to the slide stop might be a bigger help than buying a tool. A small groove filed into the slide stop where the plunger contacts it while being installed will make things much easier.
I recently purchased a Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 that required the use of a tool to depress the slide stop plunger before the slide stop could be inserted. After a couple of minutes with a mini round file, the slide stop is easy to install. Insert the pin, lay the stop on the plunger (the notch will align it) and press straight in. No tool to lose track of.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

Yes, thats a very good mod if you have a 1911 with a very difficult to reinstall slide stop. Heres more information if anyone is interested: http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=214653If your slide stop is that hard to insert, a simple mod to the slide stop might be a bigger help than buying a tool.
