Saw a guy open carrying this weekend

He was filling gas at an Arco on I-5.

I wonder how many do so in rural areas without incident? Quite a few people saw him including the attendant and didn't react.

Could have had a badge on his belt that you didn't see. I've seen plenty of plain clothed officers openly carrying in restraunts in the city of Los Angeles. Most people don't pay any attention even if their badges are on the opposite side of their belt and can't be seen from most angles that the weapon can be seen from.

Highly doubtful he was an active officer - he must have been 80 years old.

He was carrying a handgun. Could have been airsoft I suppose.

Honestly, I dont see any reason why an 80+ year old would carry an airsoft(other than maybe for protest) rather than a real gun. It was most likely real.

He most likely doesn't keep up on gun law. My grandfather has a revolver and 870. Although he doesn't open carry, he had no idea they had banned it until I told him.

I would agree with CS. Nor-Cal rural area & 80+, doesnt really supprise me. I may have a house in suburbia hell, but spend 80% of my time in "rural area's".
