    Suggest a cleaning rod

I broke my multipiece cleaning rod the other day and need a replacement.

I only have a 9mm pistol and a shotgun right now but will soon get a 10/22 as well.

My cleaning rod was just the cheap multi-piece aluminum rod from walmart so nothing special. The biggest deal is it really didn't fit in my cleaning kit as the handle didn't unscrew. I use a Plano tackle organizer as a cleaning kit and everything fits except the rod with handle. I also use boresnakes, but like to clean with a rod occasionally.

I really don't want a one-piece rod for the long guns and a separate rod for the pistol. I llike that I can store everything in just one kit.

Looking on-line I didn't find anything that seemed to fit the bill, but its hard to assess things on the internet sometimes.

I have very limited local resources, so that hasn't been helpful either.

    Suggestions?

I've never used this but I've been eyeballin the Otis zombie cleaning kit. The packaging says it'll work for 223/556 9mm 40 and 12gauge

for shotgun and 10/22 I would just do boresnakes. For the 9mm the cheapo walmart one is fine.

DEWEY are the only rods allowed in my rifles. Period.

Dewey for rifles of any caliber.

I own and use Dewey for pistol as well, but I'd think that the cheapie one pieces would do fine as well as I used one for years with no issues.

I have a 3 piece cheapie for shotgun as it doesn't get used much.

Tipton or Dewey. I run both and think they're worth the extra money.

OK, so the general consensus is "Do do what you were thinging of doing because you'll eventually do the right thing anyway."

Long rod for the long guns and short rod for the pistol.

that said, looking at the Dewey long rods, they seem to be sold caliber specific. Without having one to touch and feel, would I buy one for a .22 and use it in the shotgun or would I want a different rod for the shotgun?

Tipton carbon fiber rods and dewy's. I love the tipton the most. I only use the generic multi piece for handguns becuz of the short pistol barrels. The otis kits are for when in the field. Same for boresnakes.
