My mother in laws brother just passed away and she wants to give me some of his firearms. He lived in West Virginia she lives here in California, she plans on driving back with a SIG P225 and some bolt action rifles. Can she legally bring them back to CA and give them to me with a ppt? Thanks for all the good info here. Sorry if a dupe

Also, any states she should not drive through? -
Let's assume that brother willed the guns to his sister/your MIL. That covers the Federal interstate transfer questions. My mother in laws brother just passed away and she wants to give me some of his firearms. So, she can legally bring them back to CA. For the 225 (and all handguns she brings back), she needs to file the OPLAW form.
And, once here, yes, she can PPT any of those to you.Last edited by Librarian; 07-16-2012, 10:56 PM.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment
