does this look fishy to anyone else?

I can't seem to help but be completely taken back by the fact that no only does the bidder say the weapon can be converted into a post '86 mg, but that the lower receiver does indeed appear to have a third setting. . . .

FAL lowers often have the "3rd setting" too, it's just part of the surplus world. I don't know WTF he means by his post 86 comment though. Maybe he means an RDIAS thing will fit with no mods?

I would assume that in CA, we should stay away from those third setting switches, but then I would also assume that form what you say, it does nothing functionally to the weapon w/o the proper sear? Still fish to me, though. . .

please awol 2 weeks to ship the gun
I see he values the English language!

2 weeks to ship a firearm.. sounds quite excessive.

Plus he has 2 other rifles of the EXACT same picture/description/price...

        and this...

        cash only.
$2,150 rifle with no picture or adequate description and wanting cash...not sure how many more red flags he can throw up..

        The good news is he
fired less than 100 round throw the gun
        ....

I am pretty sure that with HKs the auto sear itself is registered. Many people use post GCA weapons as "hosts" to make their full auto HKs. Some HKs however are not compatiable with the original HK sears and won't work; some because of dimensions, others because of operation design, etc. The PTR-91/JLD receivers are pretty damn close to true HK receivers so most, if not all, HK parts work with them. I would assume that he means it can be converted to function as a host gun if the purchaser legally owns a registered auto sear.

As for the markings; they mean nothing. Most HK trigger packs are marked this way and most also have the auto sear pin hole. This is why the semi-auto HKs have the shelf in them because most trigger packs are military surplus and are FA trigger packs. It's relatively easy to convert the FA trigger packs to SAO operation and some people make good money by converting the FA trigger packs into FA look alikes that are SAO. If you've ever heard of a trigger pack being "clipped and pinned" it comes from the process of clipping the auto sear pin and pinning it in the tigger housing. It gives the look of a FA weapon on a SAO weapon. These trigger packs retain their original markings but they all function the same - semi-auto only. Even those clipped and pinned trigger packs that have the safe, single, double, triple, and full all function semi-auto except on safe where it is safe. It's like AK rifles; the selector is there and when placed in the FA position with a SA trigger it still functions but only for one shot. Same thing here except it's marked, which is no differnt than the POF AR lowers that have the HK style markings.

On a side note, the seller seems VERY shaddy as it looks like CETME trigger packs; so it's most likely CETME parts on a PTR receiver with cheap HK furniture on it to keep the prices low. The pictured gun is probably LONG gone but he recycles it. As someone bids he makes a new one and sends it off. $250 for the receiver, $60 for the CETME parts, $50 for the HK furniture and he makes a good $500+ profit off that gun alone plus he can sell the CETME furniture and mags to make even more money. It's like they say Caveat Emptor and if your "something's wrong" buzzer is going off already, don't even touch it.

It's a parts gun, without enough US parts to make it 922r compliant. The lower is a clipped and pinned job from a auto lower, now it is a semi lower. You can make any 91/PTR into a auto with a reg'ed auto sear. It is over priced and unfinished. I would not expect it to work properly.
