You have $1,000 to spend on an AR Upper

Complete upper or build your own. Forget sights and optics. Just the upper.

    What would you get?

I still say Adams Arms... they have several models...website shows they are more than 1000, but they are 700-800 online.

One of the new Daniel Defense uppers.

      More specifically, the M4v1 lightweight.

Or a colt 6720 upper and a rail of my liking.

I'd buy a Palemetto State Armory M-16A4 clone upper, with heavy barrel. Then I'd get a nice scope, and maybe a B.A.D.A.S.S, and a Magpul forearm itch trigger guard. That's be good for me. Then get a spikes tactical lower with CMMG LPK, Magpul grip (can you tell I like magpul? ) and then a Magpul stock. I'd be good to go then.

Here is what I recently did.

            BCM mid length upper 16"
            BCM BCG
            BCM mod 4 charging handle
Centurion C4 mid length cut out rail
Battle Comp 1.0 (though I got that for free )
            KAC micro BUIS

I should also mention I don't like quad rails. Lightweight is good.

Plenty of rails that are crazy light. The Centurion C4 and new DDM4 rails fit the bill. I don't like the round tube hand guards at all. Maybe the KAC URX 3.1 might be up your alley? My next rifle will probably have one.

Here is a spreadsheet with rail weights and features, might help you make your choice.

If I was going to spend 1k or thereabouts I would pick up a Noveske SS upper. Below that I would pick up a BCM/Colt/DD and probably have enough left over for a nice e sight or half a case of ammo.

I've bought good complete uppers with MBUS sights from PSA and JSE Surplus for around $600. Then spend the rest on 1000 rounds of ammo.

The Troy TRX extreme rail gets very good reviews.

I have owned one of these for about 5 years. Very accurate and flawless function.

10 shot grouping at 200 yards would have been clean except for a newb mistake and had a flier

I would probably go for an Adams Arms uppeer. they have been getting some good reviews and I want a piston upper. runs soooo much cleaner
