I basically want to know if there are any modern western countries that allow its citizen to bear arms like in the U.S

is there a European country which allows me to own and possess a Ar-15rifle and other cool rifles?

Pretty much all of Europe requires some sort of permit/license in order to legally obtain/own/possess a firearm.

Often the permit requires a "good cause" and passing several tests and paying a fee.

The Czech Republic has the most liberal standards out of all the European nations for issuing a permit (they accept self-defense, other Euro nations do not).

AFAIK almost all of Europe is Socialist-ish, like the Democratic party wants the US to be.
I know a guy from the UK, and he says that the majority of people living there are on UK(-style) welfare, and most don't work.

The ones that work take like 5+ weeks off a year (going on "Holiday"), and the only country that isn't as Socialist (go figure, as they had the Nationalist-Socialist [Nazi] party in power) AND DOING WELL FINANCIALLY, is currently Germany.

Per Wikipedia the people that cannot get a permit in Germany are:
* convicted felons
* have a record of mental disorder or
* are deemed unreliable (which includes people with drug or alcohol addiction histories and known violent or aggressive persons)

A quick Skim of German Firearms on Wikipedia states there are "four million legal private gun owners" in Germany.

Nobody but the USA has real gun rights. The rest MAY have some privileges but as others have pointed out, permits and restrictions apply. Particularly to hand guns.

I suppose one could go to Somalia, you can pretty much have whatever you want there.
