    ffl questions

hoping maybe someone can help me answer these:

1.What are NY1, NY2 and Miami pistol conversions? Do they have anything to do with either the spring shape or the actual tension? Do they offer any value to the everyday defense pistol?

2.If you repair a gun, log it in and out, and a customer’s family member comes to pick it up, are you allowed to give it to them? Does the original customer have to pass another background check to pick up his own gun once you’ve repaired it? If you’re not an FFL, is there any liability for you regardless of what you do? Would your insurance cover you if you are sued due to your actions rather than the quality of your work?

      1. The NY-1 Trigger spring is different from the standard issue spring, and yields a different feel and a heavier pull to the trigger - more like a double action wheelgun trigger pull. The same applies to the NY-2 module, only a heavier pull. The "Miami" system is a combo of an eight pound pull connector with the standard trigger spring, and the final pull weight is light than the NY-2.

      2. I wouldn't transfer a firearm to anyone other than the original person who gave you the firearm for repair. They do not have to go through the background check or waiting period before reclaimimg their firearm. There is liability for every action you take, FFL holder, licensed gunsmith or not. You should talk over your concerns with your insurance agent before engaging in any activity that could expose you to risk outside of or over and above your current insurance coverage (which is why I only work on departmental weapons, and firearms owned by individuals known to me for 20 years or more)
