Question about LGS etiquette

It's a good habit to get into. I always check my chambers, often multiple times.

I completely field strip a pistol anytime I pick it up.

You don't check to make sure it's unloaded before field stripping it? Sounds like an ND waiting to happen with a gun that needs to be dry-fired as part of field stripping.

Once you get used to it, you check it so fast both of you wont even notice/

I don't pick those type of guns up.

I always check all guns I handle to make sure. My guns, friends guns, store guns. I trust no one and rather be safe.

I accept the firearm from the employee, verify myself that it is clear and safe, and then manipulate/dryfire/handle the firearm. Upon finishing handling the firearm, I lock the slide back and hand it back grip-first.

If any employee has thought what I do is stupid or unnecessary, they have kept quiet about it as the only remarks I've gotten are "Thank you" and "Appreciate it."
