    SAS on Weaponology

Just watched the SAS on Weaponology. Two things:

I really want an MP5 but can't have one

Margaret thatcher is a bad a**.
She volonteered to play a hostage in a live fire exercise with the SAS. One of her aids that was with her jumped on the ground when the sooting started and she told him "get up, your embarrassing me".

You gotta love the "gas operated" browning hi power mentioned. You would think a weapons expert could at least know how a weapon operates.

Also got to love that the SAS used specially adapted Land Rovers in WWII.

I guess the war lasted longer than I originally thought as the Land Rover was invented in 1947 and for the first few years was basically the American Jeep frame and Drive train with a more civilian friendly body/cab.

I guess in a way they are right since the Jeep was one of several vehicles that the SAS used and the Jeep later became the original land rover before an all british design came about.

The writers of this show watch to many war movies as "gas operated browning" (not realizing there are allot of different brownings) and "SAS land rovers in North Africa during WWII' are common catch phrases and misconceptions brought about by the war movies.

I do really like this channel and its shows but I do wish they would get the details correct like the one on snipers that showed a 7.62 X 51 sniper rifle then said it uses the powerful 7.62 cartridge then the fellow showed the 7.62 X 39 cartridge while describing how powerful the 7.61 X 51 was. Probably would not have bothered me so much if it was a women reporter in a tight dress and wearing lot of make up that would not know better, instead it was the fellow who claimed he is and Ex-Navy US SEAL and that really made me wonder if he would try to jam that little cartridge into is weapon while in battle. I always thought the level of weapons training was better than this.

Still I love the shows and they are much more accurate and detailed than mass media TV news/documentaries and war shows/movies.

Besides the War Channel, or I guess its the Military Channel, I also like watching the OUTDOOR channels Wed. Nights of gun shows. I don't even mind the commercials as they advertise bushmasters, Leopold's, Midway, etc instead of the usual Viagra and feminine hygiene products you see on night time TV shows.

Man, oh man. I've got to find that gas chamber and operating rod on my Hi-Power. I haven't cleaned it since I bought it 15 years ago.

              There's a "suppressed" CA-Legal version in the Rifleman's forum.

I watched it the other day also. That was a pretty cool episode.

Anyone see the mp5 they kept showing with the forward grip and large flashlight on top? That thing was funky looking.

Iike this one, but it's missing the forward frip

                    Thanks for posting this.
"War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."
