Seriously, if the war on drugs is any indication on how the war on guns will be like, I'm sure we can just stow them in our house and and yell "I AIN'T DONE NUTHIN' OFFICA" should an investigation arise.

I wouldn't actively go to war unless police were literally raiding homes, shooting gun owners, and it escalates into a second war of independence.

well,were getting ready to elect a new president..if you have been following the news as much as me you will have to admit (even if it makes you sick) that its probably gonna be Hillary. / Now my question...Would you..be you male or female actually take up arms against your country to defend against the disarming of America. Now think about it..You are middle class (as most of us are) you have a job,a house.kids..would you leave all that to band together to actually fight against your brother american..i'm sure there are some military and police that would not fire on civilians..but most would if ordered to do so..

Would you leave behind your comfortable life for a life of war? Is your belief that strong? I pray it never happens but I for one would leave it all behind and fight and maybe die for it..It just seems to me that the day is coming for everyone to make that choice...mark

NO, I don't think Hillary is a shoe-in. Sorry - your perspective is just as one might expect from a CA point of view, where you and I both suffer from masses surrounding us yipping for Hillary every time she curls a brow. You are in CA, a minority in this game, seeing those around you cheering for her; but those are the real minority ion the national scale, looking at typical Carter/Gore/Kerry leaning states and getting excited. Kerry lost miserably and anyone in CA at that time thought he was an easy in - people derided me at that time for simply smiling and saying "You are so Californian, you can't see the reality through the parching sun in your eyes: Kerry is going to lose miserably". There is this vast and larger majority of this country just beyond our eastern California border that continues to think Hillary is too radical - and no matter what she does or polls; it won't happen. I have predicted every election right (yes, even Gore/Bush) since and including Carter, even when I did not agree with the choice (Bill Clinton - both times).

YES, while I am not one to think we should go off to fight for every other country's battles, (but maybe some of them if warranted - Afghanistan: yes / Iraq: no) but should a force in our own country try to disarm me and take my American way of life, then yes I would take up arms against that evil force. You mention house, kids, etc: I'm not fighting just to preserve a right to keep and bear arms, not, I'm preserving my right to live as I choose with my house and kids. Not fighting? You'll die anyway, just at a later time after living a longer, horrible opressedlife. Yes, many gun laws have been passed here in CA, yet the guns I now persoanlly have in my possession, are the same guns I had 30 years ago, before all of CA's and other gun laws changed what you can now buy or not buy. No, you can't get an Armalite AR10 - but you CAN get a Springfield M1A, a PTR-91, or even a Fulton Armory AR in .308 with slight configuration change; are those less effective? None of my guns have ever been taken away because they "had" to be taken away. But try to take them, try to completely disarm; you will have a fight, whether that be daylight face-to-face or within discreet shadows of the dark of night.

Governmental disarmament of the people or some sort of civil-war has happened in nearly every major country around the world at least once in the past 200 years, often in mass scale - I never rule out, nor do I fool myself into thinking, that it can't happen in America - again. Nor do I rule out that the UN would love nothing more than for that to happen.

The "door-to-door" confiscation scenario is a no-goer, imo.

The fed.gov.org isn't inclined to destroy itself, it's only interested in the furtherance of it's power.

So here's how it could go.

Firearms are declared to be restricted items, just as Ca. has with AW's, and the FGO just waits things out, and oh, btw, when you go to collect your SS or Medicare, that's when you have to account for the firearms recorded to you by 4473 - "Sorry Mr. X, but we can't grant you your benefits until you provide us with the details of the disposition of the firearms you failed to surrender."

A program like that and a program to provide large tax-free cash "bonuses" to informers that turn in individuals holding firearms would further the FGO agenda with low risk of inciting organized armed reisistance.

They might pick up a few people under plans like that. People with one or two guns bought on a whim, or who people who still have grandfather's gun in the house; and he's now deaf, dumb, and playing with his own drool like it's play-dough, stuck in a nursing home.

They can keep my SS and/or Medicare. I don't need it. But even under these plans, you would be surprised how ineffective they would be. The NRA and American citizens with guns who also value their gun ownership, who already saw what happened in Britain, Australia, and Canada - have learned that lesson.

Could they try it? Yes. But I think the resistance would/will be totally different than what happened in those other countries.
