    Secure ammo storage ideas

i wanted to organize, inventory all my ammo and make some room in my safe for more guns so i bought a steel locking "Kobalt" cabinet at lowes. After loading it up i found the darn thing is just not designed to handle a couple hundred lbs of ammo per shelf. (it seemed much more robust on display than it actually turned out to be). Short of making one my self out of wood or buying another gun safe can ya' think of an alternative source for a durable, locking cabinet that can handle 200 or so lbs. per shelf for less than say, $400.00?

Host your images online with an easy to use image uploader, albums, photo hosting, sharing, dynamic image resizing on web and mobile.

if that picture works you'll see my top shelf is severely sagging in the middle there's more than 100lbs there not sure how much more. There's about 3000+ rounds on the top shelf, thanks for the link to the sandusky cabinets , thats exactly the type of thing i was looking for but an office supply place hadnt occured to me.(hopefully no relation to the pedo sandusky!!)

What do you want the ammo locked up for? To keep it from getting stolen? Or to keep people from accessing it?

If it is the latter, you can just buy regular milsurp ammo cans, of whatever size you prefer and spend a little time with a dremel tool installing an eye hook bolt that the ammo can latches will fit over that you can use to padlock.

You can lock as many cans as you like and stack them however and wherever you like.

Go to a office furniture liquidation warehouse and buy a heavy duty file cabinet. Those things are designed to hold hundreds of lbs of files and they have decent locks. You can get some good discounts on dinged up "ugly" ones.
