    Flying with mag rebuild kits?

So i am currently in missouri and the Bass Pro HQ is across the street. So i was thinking about picking up some standard capacity magazines, disassembling them and then throwing them in my checked suitcase on the way home to turn into 10/30's back in CA. Does anyone know if i would be breaking any rules. I was considering finding a letter from ATF or DOJ explaining a disassembled mag rebuild kit is legal in CA and throwing it in with my luggage. This would just simply save me gas money or shipping expenses and might be a bit cheaper here. Or is it not even worth the hassle?

    Parts is parts.

    In this case.

You can't get DOJ to cop to anything, in my experience.

        Yep. Checked luggage is GTG.

As Paul0660 says parts are parts, no need to declare them so no problem.

TSA doesn't care about CA mag laws. Transport in checked luggage as stated and you're GTG. Not to mention your bag is screened in MO where they are legal. Once it arrives in CA no one here knows what in it but you.

I was gunna pick up some rebuild kits in Nevada once and found that they were $3 more than a store here in Cali . Couldn't believe it.

i got 2 for $14 a piece but i figure it would cost me either $10 in gas or shipping charges so i saved a couple bucks and got to see some fine guns. This bass pro HQ made the one in manteca look like a hole in the wall convenient store.

You know, if disassembled, those USPS flat rate shipping boxes would be just the ticket. They're about the right size, and not too expensive. Mail 'em to yourself, that's what I would do in your situation. Enjoy Springfield.

I'm in St.Louis, MO and was thinking of doing the same thing. I was going to check out Bass Pro but instead went to Cabelas as we have a BP in Manteca. In the end decided not to. Hopefully I will get the job I came to interview for and can just move to free America! And yes, Cabelas is still expensive here as well. Lol!

We will be in St louis on sunday and have a trip to the arch planned along with a great place to eat at we saw on Man v Food. I could throw them in with my cousins golf clubs he will be shipping back to CA as he came out here for the same reason but also wanted to play golf so he shipped his clubs here.
