Shoot N C Type Targets

Hello All,

I'm sure many of you have used these targets, as a new shooter I love them, I can see exactly where I am hitting without the need of optics.

However, as a new shooter, I prefer .22lr over 9mm due to costs and the costs of these Targets are relatively expensive considering the number rounds you can put in them before they become ineffective.

Has anyone found a solid/effective method of making your own or buying these in large bulk quantities?

Find some on sale on a website like slickguns.com. Every now and then someone has a decent deal on factory seconds, or 50 packs.

Something else to consider is how you're using them. Like you mentioned, yes they do become ineffective after a certain point(I don't get why some shooters will sit there blasting away at a target that already has a ragged 8 inch hole in it). However if you get say... a 6" target, don't aim for the center. Aim for the edges, or numbers on the rings around the bullseye, etc. Just because you've shot out the bullseye doesn't mean that there aren't other portions of the target you can aim at.

I love them as well and go through them really fast. If you buy them in the 50 or 60 packs the price is not as bad. Try checking out cabelas, midway, maybe brownells, a few other places periodically for sales.

I think there is a vendor on here that sells them in larger quantities. Check the vendor section.

I buy fluorescent orange "organizing/filing dots" and use those as targets.

You can make them yourself, but they won't be any cheaper than buying them in bulk.

To make them yourself, you just need bright paper, cover with clear packing tape, and spray paint black.

Just don't attach them to steel plates. I was shooting at one yesterday with my 45/70 and it basically disintegrated the thing. I should have known better but I like to hear the bong and see where it hit. I am thinking next time I will try a piece of cardboard between the two.

These are the ones I am currently using but is there a better price elsewhere or a bulk purchase? I will probably consider making them if I can find work instructions and use company supplies.

I ran these for the first time last weekend at the range. At 50 yards with a 30cal bullet (.30-30) they were basically worthless. Even at 10x I had a hard time making out the orange rimmed hole from the black of the target.

When I run out of these, I'll be going back to Shoot-N-Cs for my rifle shooting. There's no comparison IMHO.

Another way to make homemade shoot n see is to get some Plastic Sheet Protectors
About $15 for 200 at Staples.

Fill with bright paper and spraypaint them black. Put a sticky dot on them. They work reasonably well.
