Ideas that can get you into trouble

So I was thinking. It is perfectly legal to transport an unloaded gun in a locked container pretty much everywhere.

Now bare with me. What if one designed a holster that had a locking mechanism such as those bed side touch combi safes they sell for hand guns. The holster would allow you to carry an semi-auto pistol with the slide locked back.

To draw the gun, one would key the combi in with their fingers, thus the holster would become unlocked and allow the user to draw the gun. Meanwhile the left hand removes a loaded mag from a pocket and loads the gun with it. Thumb the slide release and TADA! A loaded gun ready for use.

As long as it was carried openly, or fully encased the gun, it would be legal as per my understanding of the law. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Now I admit this is one hoekey way of legal carry. A true pain in the butt for legal gun owners. It would most likely end with your butt in court to prove the legality of it, but hey it would be almost worth it just to see the look on all of the people's faces when it was deemed legal by letter of the law.

Well yeah, but it is strapped to your leg or on your belt. No doubt it is going to look funny save if it was made for the smallest autos made, but hey, I wear funny looking shirts too, so a big buldge thing on my belt isn't going to be that shocking.

        Possible idea on "locks".

Car door locks are electronically remote activated...

Why can't code-mandated gun locks be electronically opened?

        Technology is sometimes our friend...

I don't care how gay it looked if it allowed me to carry in this state I'd be for it.

If you could put some type of electronically triggered lock on the "Lifejacket" (which is CADOJ approved), you might realy be on to something.

It would be legal, but only in limited circumstances. If you are not in a motor vehicle, then the 12026.1 exemption would not apply. In that case, only 12026.2 would exempt you from 12025. And 12026.2 requires travel between exempted locations only, with only "reasonable" deviations.

See my flyer (linked in my sig) if you want more detail. (And see PC 12026.2.)

Well, I'm envisioning a setup where the handgun would be unloaded, locked, and non-concealed. Setting aside the argument about only carrying legal-to-legal spots (which I think is fairly "easily" proved as OK in most circumstances), I think it'd be 100% legal, in vehicle and out (government buildings, etc excepted). But buy your own legal insurance in the amount of your choice...

Lock = Biometric fingerprint reader. Some safes already have it.

You could actually make the container/holster slightly spring-loaded, so the gun rises into your hand with the cover opens.

Probably wouldn't wash in court, but I like the general idea.
