    From Burro Canyon website((http://www.burrocanyon.com/faqs.shtml):
"Steel-jacketed and bi-metal ammunition is not allowed during the dry months of the year due to fire danger. However, we do allow this ammunition to be used during the wet season. The wet months vary from year to year and we will inform you of the start and finish of each season. You can check your ammunition for the presence of steel by touching a magnet to the bullet. Keep in mind that both tracer (orange tip) and steel-core (green tip) ammunition is never allowed."

I don't know about lytle creek, but the issue with steel ammo is fire danger. Not anything to do with the 2A in Cali.

Just had another thought for your ammo at burro canyon.... wait until winter/rainy season...then your ammo should be GTG

the reason you can't shoot steel core ammo at burro canyon is because of fire danger, and it's only during the dry season. this seems like a fairly logical restriction to me. i don't see how that is an invasion on our freedoms, unless you're looking to actually start fires with your guns and are upset that you now can't.

Usually any outdoor range (at least around here) does not allow any sort of magnetic ammo. I was told by burro that the forestry and fire services will shut them down because of the danger of starting a fire when using steel core ammo.

The only time they ever allow steel core ammo is either while it is raining or immediately after it has rained. They MIGHT let you shoot it the next day but you are taking your chances.

Raahauge's is close to you and they don't have any ammo restriction. Expensive though.

You didn't buy Yugoslavian 7.62x54r if it sticks to a magnet. That's the only surplus that doesn't!
