Alternative gun storage.

That is better than nothing. You might want to install two hasps and locks on each side of the door to make it more difficult for someone to pry the door open. The longer it takes someone to break in, the less chance they will.I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. -
I agree. It is not a safe and I actually had it titled "alternative gun lock-up", but I changed it(and now Ill change it back). About the lock. The lock locks the foot pedal to allow it to revolve and so, 1: I don't want to accidentally mess it up by modifying it, 2. This thing weighs a ton and the all sides are thick and tuff. What are hasps?Comment

How much does it weigh empty? Might consider bolting it into the wall/ floor.Comment

For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.
Being thick and tough feeling doesn't really give an indicator on how well it can actually withstand tools(cutting, drilling, prying). Is it more secure than just leaving guns sitting in the closet? Of course. Will it deter some crackhead who breaks in just to steal your TV and run? Probably. Will it stop someone who breaks into your home after you leave for work so they have a few hours to go through everything? Nope.Comment

With enough time nothing is completely secure. Being camoflauged as a standard shelf or caninet definitely adds to the security and bad *** factor. Id definitely be interested in getting one myself. A big *** safe sitting in ur house is a lot less inconspicuous."I'd much rather go to my grave never needing my gun, than go there wishing I had it"Comment

I don't know exactly how much it weighs but I know that 4 strong men, including myself, had to drag it because we just could not pick it up.
Well obviously it does. It doesn't indicate to what exact degree and would really only be useful in a relative comparison. I don't think it would stop a gang of thieves that know what I have and where they are and have a couple hours to get at them, but those conditions never accompany each other. Theres always someone home with a gun nearby and thats even if I am out of the house which I am never gone too long. Thanks for the concern though.http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hasp

Thank you Duramimal, I completely agree. I would trust most cases of being inconspicuous over feeling like I have some sort of security. In this case, I believe I have both. Not fireproof or 500 dollar safe secure, but secure enough and by the time anyone noticed what it really was, I'd have a barrel nearly down their throat.
I do feel like I should bolt it to the floor and if I can figure out a good way to do so, I will. It really is a lot more tuff than it looks and because the only way to revolve it is to press the petal, when the petal is locked, even if the lock is broken out, you can't turn it. It locks to the revolving plate underneath and that is the heaviest part. THICK steal. So, the best bet would be to somehow get the whole side off and a couple of hours wouldn't be enough time to make a hole big enough to get the guns out.
Thanks to everyones input. Gives me something to consider.Comment

Looks like an Aurora/Richard Wilcox times two file. Not in the same league as a safe, but close enough for a locker. Personally I would keep one side filled with non gun stuff and in the event of a burglary hope the camouflage works.
Either way for 50 bucks that is a score.Comment

Better then nothing, but i would bolt it to wall and floor. And i got that same survival knife X). Has a little compass on it.Comment

That is exactly the plan. Thanks.Looks like an Aurora/Richard Wilcox times two file. Not in the same league as a safe, but close enough for a locker. Personally I would keep one side filled with non gun stuff and in the event of a burglary hope the camouflage works.

Yea it does. It comes with a bunch of other stuff but a lot of it is cheap so Im going to replace everything with the same stuff but better quality.Comment
