    New Rifle Options

Hey guys so as many of you know i lost a few of my guns. My renters insurance is gonna pay for replacement value and now im gonna have to replace my hunting rifle.

A couple of options im looking at that are in stock at the local shop also ones i like
    Benelli R1
    Browning x bolt
    weatherby vanguard s2
    ruger hm 77
    ruger k77
    browning blr lt

Im looking at either 30-06 270 or 300

Im open to other options and they are not the end all be all they are just ones i have been able to hold look at and like.

I really do like the Benelli R1 though.

My price range is nothing above about 800 before fees and taxes.

Last year, I bought a Browning X-bolt (standard .270), strapped on a VXII 3x9x50, and love it!

Buy what you like and have the money for leaving enough for a good scope(hint: Leupold) since it is your money and the rifle will be for you. The 30-06 is not fancy but is really hard to beat for a all around big game rifle. All the ones you listed are good and I would add Tikka to your list. You need to go and see how each feels and fits you then make your choice.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

im gonna have a set amount for a scope also. Im gonna buy what i want but getting other shooters opinions on rifles that they use vs ones that i have looked at is better then taking the word on some gun review written by someone whos most likely biased to certain guns and wont fairly review it.

I agree, buy what you like...Look at and shoulder everything you can. And, I would agree with taking a look at a Tikka T3. They are pretty nice and have a very smooth bolt action.

I was in search of something new, a synthetic stocked .270. It would be to replace my cherished A-bolt Gold Medallion .30-06, for the majority of my hunting needs. I looked at and shouldered everything I could. For me, the X-bolt was perfect! It is smooth, and shoots tight groops!

I've got a Weatherby Vanguard that I love. That being said, I think all of the rifles listed are good choices.

Cabela's fathers day catalouge has the Zeiss conquest 4-12x(or 10 cataloge not infront of me) marked down to $399. If its in your budget.

If not check out sample list. I got a nice Minox z3 3-9 for $249 that damned if you can tell its really used. Same German glass assembled in America set up. Its on my .30-06 that I fully intend to take to Africa some day but will do great with deer and hopefully elk here until then.

I like the way the xbolt felt and the fact that it was way lighter then my I bolt was plus the shorter throw of the bolt made it feel a lot smoother then some of the other bolts. I'm not sure yet what my budget is gonna be on the scope yet gotta wait and see if they give us the full amount we claimed or if the try and talk us down but I do know I want a 4-16 and I'm thinking about getting something with the range lines

The only reason tikka is not on my list is cuz I have not found one in stock so it's really hard to like something I can't hold lol

If you limit yourself to $800 before fees and taxes, the Benelli R1 will be out of reach, unless it were used.

With that said, I would go X-bolt or Vanguard S2.
