Rendezvous Primitive Arms in Ione, CA: Ammo Prices

I bought my first rifle from them last June. I've got back and bought items here and there. Their pricing was average, so it was okay to go in there and buy something if you needed it then and there. However, after going in today to look at some ammo for plinking...ouch. .223 Wolf was $10/box. .308 Hornady Zombie ammo was almost $40 for the box. A gentleman next to me was getting some .22LR, and 500 rounds was $40 something after the employee "worked with him" on the price of a brick instead of a 50 round box. Ouch. It was chalked up to how insane the ammo prices have gone up lately.

I know others here who live in the area stop by there, and just thought I'd give a heads up. All new people working there, and apparently the prices of ammo are helping to pay for the new indoor handgun range.

I went in there a few months ago and found them to be very nice and helpful. I looked at a few of their C&R rifles that were on consignment and realized if they knew anything about the actual values of the rifles, they would have never even bothered to take it in. For example, they had a run-of-the-mill Swedish Mauser priced at $1,900.00!!! Yes, that is not a typo and no it was not a sniper or some rare version. I was just about to leave and the owner mentioned he had another old rifle in back and he pulls out a beautiful 1942 Long Branch No4 Mk1 in original configuration with magazine and sells it to me for $125!!! WTH?

So yeah, something tells me they don't know how to price stuff, but I will keep coming back because they are nice and I want to be there when they screw up again

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

This is a recent change, like in the past month. I went in there just about two months ago I think and all of the now-gone employees and decent prices were still there. I had kept stopping by whenever I was in Ione to see if they had finally got the .308 Silver Bear in (still don't have any, though, I'd hate to see the price). They now carry ARs as well (didn't seem very interested at all in ordering me even a lower receiver end of last year), though they were all priced about $500 more than other stores. The two new guys I saw today were nice and helpful. I've only got a problem with the new prices on everything. Heck, I went straight from there to Big 5 and one of the guys that works there came in to look at ammo or whatever. Kind of bad when the employees won't shop there IMO.

That's pretty much everywhere. Get used to it it's only going to get worse! Turners had American eagle .223 for 10 bucks along with PMC bronze .223 for 10 bucks also. 555 rounds of .22 32 bucks! Lol. It's funny as the ammo is now just sitting there. No one has touched it in a week hahahahh.
