    Glendale Gunshow March 4th & 5th

How good will this show be?
Will it be exactly like the Del Mar show?

it's not a matter of how good a cali gun show is...it's usually a matter of how bad it is. if you have to pay for entrance AND parking...it might not be worth it

that said, i'm still thinking of going (if i can find out if miwall ammo will be there). they're usually at the xroads shows (there's one during the end of march).

I have been once. It was a small show. A lot of the big vendors were not there. I think Miwall was there selling ammo but not components.

it's held in the civic auditorium so it's a real small show. and yea my main reason for going is for ammo only.

only for .308 match ammo, which is cheaper than getting it online.

Parking is free and the entrance fee is cheaper than most shows, and there is a coupon you can garner online (see link below). The show is not bad for a small show, but don't expect a "giganticus" of gun shows and absent of freak-fodder.

I would say it is 1/3rd the size of Costa Mesa, similar to Del Mar, and a few good tables that make it slightly better than Del Mar. There are a lot of rinky-dink tables to drift through and ignore, however, the few tables that are there of note always produce some fine selections and good prices, as for many this is the only show easily accessible in the Los Angeles area; so many sellers based in the Los Angeles area that may have resigned themselves to only doing online or local business only, actually haul stuff out to Glendale but might ignore further shows. The ammo sellers are usually there with 2 different tables, the same companies that often show up at Costa Mesa, Seaside/Ventura and Del Mar. Last time I was there, I found 2 sets of brand new custom hand-made Herrett wood stocks for a Colt Python for $5.00 each that this old guy had, and he simply wanted to get rid of them - they are typically from $60 - $90 each. And they were on a table with about 50% other non-gun junk, but he confirmed as well that this is the only show which he attends. Finding those stocks alone made it worth every time I have gone to ANY gun show in CA.

I say go anyway; support your local gun show! Especially now since the mayor of Glendale yesterday began discussions of shutting it down!! This is the last one in the Los Angeles area, which is reason enough alone to support it. It's the cheapest of all the guns shows, and it has gotten bigger since its introduction. When it started a few years ago, it was only 1 floor. Now it is 2 floors and they use the stage area as well (you will see what I mean if you go). A lot of good tables with parts and good consignment guns, not just a lot of worthless accessories and "crafts" (though ANY gun show in CA now days is going to have a least some of that crap unfortunately - they would NOT have it if people would stop buying that crap, but people bring their wives and kids to these shows and sure enough.... they come home with a tacky Thomas Kinkade "toaster blanket" and a plastic ninja sword anyway).

I've had good luck there firearms wise. I picked up a S&W model 10 for $150 and an original Vz52 (not a Century "spec ops" model) with mags, 500+ rds of ammo and cleaning kit for ~$350. For some reason I seem to find better deals there than at Costa Mesa. I did find that some of the 01 FFLs were either really cocky or uninformed and therefore very cautions about doing PPTs on semiauto stuff that has bayonets attached. Also it seems like their tranfer dealer process needs a little more polish. There's one guy there that does consignment only stuff. He usually has some interesting stuff for decent prices. Rich's firearms is there. Gruff guy but again some interesting stuff to look at. Decent prices.

I did get the impression that they were "under the microscope" as far as making sure transactions were taking place in a legal manner. Ironically, when questioned about the legality of a certain transaction the gun show management deferred to one of the 01 dealers on the floor.

Yes, there is jerky, yes there are beanie babies but if you live close by then $6 or $7 is a fair price just to inhale the "aroma" and absorb the inreasingly rare ambiance that is a gun show in California.

Good hunting - I'll see you there Sunday.....(I'll miss out on the deals but, hey, I have a family function to attend to Saturday....)

                    I will vote for a donkey-sex maniac if he's pro-gun.

ammo is not really worth it unless you buy a LOT!!.. when you factor in time and gas + entrance fee.. you might as well just go to ammoman.com as there prices are pretty good.. just my .02

Is anyone going to be selling any lower receiver kits?
