Turners is pretty up on their business, so you might want to call the manager and ask about it or contact them via their website and bring this to their attention. I am at school so I can't see your attached image.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

The "Turner's Outdoors! Dealer Handling Fee" is where they screwed the pooch. Bring your receipt back to Turners with a copy of the PC and demand they refund your $5.00. If they try to tell you no, tell them that you will call DOJ and report them if they don't comply with the law.

I don't recall the new PC number, but someone here should chime in with it shortly.

Charging more than the $35.00 MAXIMUM legal amount is a misdemeanor offense.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think they should be charging "Sales Tax" on state mandated fees. They are not selling you anything.

yup they charged you an extra $5 and the tax on it. However it isn't itemized as part of the dros, so I'm not sure if you can do anything.

I also see Reseda has an 11% tax. I would ask the manager for your $5.44 refund. Could have been a cashier mistake...

I think an employee clicked the wrong box on their computer. I did a PPT at the San Marcos Turner's on Saturday and only paid $35. An experienced employee walked a newer employee through the process and I recall the newer employee asking about the handling fee and being told it was for in-stock sales, not PPT's.

Go to the Turner's section of the Vendor's forum and PM them.

Call the manager, tell him the mistake and I am sure they will fix it. Accidents happen. If they don't fix it then get pissed.

NOT A MISTAKE from employee. I looked at all my past PPT's AND my "NEW" gun purchases and they all have the $5.00 Turners handling fee on them.

It was clearly itemized on the receipt. The only other items on the reciept are for the PPT. The Dealer's Handling Fee is clearly in relation to the PPT.

As far as what he can do, first, he can point out what is hopefully just a clerical error to Turner's and ask that they correct it.

If they refuse, point out the PC and the fact that the over charge could constitute a misdemeanor, and insist that they correct it.

If they still refuse, then contact DOJ and report them for the misdemeanor they commited and have DOJ handle it.

There have been way too many FFLs trying to steal from their customers by insisting that they have the right to charge what they want. We must all be deligent to ensure that mistakes are corrected before they become ingrained to point of becoming policy.

IIRC the "NEW" gun purchases are not covered by the PC that limits the charge to $35.00. They can add a handling fee.

The PPTs on the other hand are limited by the PC to a MAXIMUM of $35.00. One penny more, and it is a misdemeanor.

I would take all the receipts back and demand all the overages be corrected.

Each one is an individual misdemeanor charge for the FFL.

The "policy" referenced in my previous post has obviously already taken hold, and your receipts are evidence of an ongoing pattern of criminal behavior.

This. I've asked many FFLs in San Diego what they charge for PPT and a few of them have replied more than $35.

If they really want the $5, they should call it a storage fee.

I was charged $35.01 on a PPT. Even the employee couldn't explain the 1 cent. WHen I got the gun after the 10 day way, it had a sticker on it for "$0.01". Which is weird.

The funny thing is that as we stood there, the employee looked at the seller and said "Hey, maybe you can kick in for this extra fee?" and the seller looked on the floor and ...there was a penny there that he picked up and handed to me! I didn't bother fussing about it being over $35, but even with 1 cent, it shouldn't have happened and might put that store at risk somehow. But whatever, I got my PPT done.

I did a PPT at their Torrance location on Friday and was only charged the standard $35 so it's not a "Turners" thing. The employee helping the OP was probably a noob. They'll fix it.

does the pc say anything about dros fee limit for a new gun? or does turners use their bull "handling fee" to screw everyone out of $5?
