My dad and I shooting an old .40 and a new 10mm.

Went to the range last week and the week before right before I sold my Glock 27 and right after I picked up my new Glock 20. I shot some of my reloads in the 40, (around 1000 fps 180gr) and some factory ammo (American Eagle) in the 10mm (also about 1000 fps, really light loads).

We weren't shooting for groups or anything, just shooting some dirt. And yes, my dad left his finger on the trigger. I already punished him for it, so no need to hate on the video for that.

    Anyway, enjoy! We sure did.

Haha, thanks! I pretty much only ever shoot with my dad, and we like putting it up online in case anybody else wants to see.

When she is within a few yards she flinches when the rounds go off, so most of the time she stays out about 20-30 yards playing. We started her off by shooting a .22 rifle a good hundred yards away, and moved her closer and closer. She never seemed to have a problem with it.

The 10mm is a reloader's dream. I've gotten my 180gr bullets up to 1213 so far with no pressure signs, and lots of room to grow. It's awesome, thanks for watching!

I don't know much about 10mm, can you compare it to a more "standard" round? Is it like a hyped up 45? or maybe like a semi auto version of a 44mag?

In full power loads, 10mm is just under the .41 Magnum

holy shnike.... (dan patrickism)... is it really poppy like the 40cal? Or more of a full kick like a 45? Sounds expensive either way. haha

Congrats on the g20. How's the recoil compared to the 40?

I used to shoot with my Dad and I will say enjoy your time with your Father and do it often.

In the truest sense of a comparison, 10mm is to .40S&W as 357mag is to 38spl, or as 44mag is to 44spl. It's just not technically a "Magnum" version of .40 because the 10mm came first, and was downloaded and shortened to become the .40S&W.

Power-wise, it's inbetween .357mag and .44mag, but recoil-wise I'd say it's very .45acp-esque. I haven't shot any true "full power" 10mm yet, so I can't attest to the recoil of those, but the hottest I've shot give me the impression most 10mm is less "snappy" than .40, and more "pushy" like the .45.

Hope that helps. 10mm isn't very similar to many common rounds because it's more powerful than most auto pistol rounds, and the recoil of a revolver is quite different than an auto.
