Ammo recommendation

I'm contemplating buying 500 rounds of .223 for storage. Right now, I can either buy 500 new premium rounds from Ammo Bros. for 180 plus tax; or for the same price buy 500 new manufactured ammo from Milwall through Outdoor Marksmen plus shipping; and lastly I can place an order for 223 Lake City 55gr from Ammoman for $225 with free shipping.

What do you guys recommend?

These stuff are made for storage, sealed, loaded-hot, accurate (for SHTF purpose), consistant (in terms of velocity, for SHTF purpose).

They are my prime choice of SHTF ammo, and my SHTF magazines are loaded with them.

M193 is by far the best choice. Better for HD than M855, IMHO.

There's Bosnian surplus in battle packs out there that's new (reviews I've not yet heard) and there's some of the M193 on strippers out there, too...

The XM193 Federal is tougher to find. I did see some Q- 5.56 Win out there, too. The Winchester is well thought of. The XM193 is sometimes not properly sealed.

I would go with the Lake City (American Eagle). That's all I used to buy before I started reloading a few years back. Very clean and fairly accurate for run of the mill FMJs. I used to get a case of 500 rounds for $75.00 back then. Now you can't even get Wolf for that price. Pure insanity I tell you.

If I were you and shoot fairly regularly I would take a serious look at reloading. It's fun and very relaxing.

+1 for Lake City, but you can never have enough ammo on hand, remanufactured, new, match etc.

I can't stomach the ammo prices lately and the prices private people are charging... It just kinda pisses me off all the gouging! Almost $400 for 1000 rds of .223? what a joke! The prices on Wolf crap ammo is even more sickening.

The Wally World in Milpitas (McCarthy Ranch) has some good prices now on ammo, .223 Remington UMC, 7.56/20. That works out to .38 per round. It looks like your price is about .38 per round. I would prefer to go with the UMC myself. They also have a great price on .45, WWB 100 Ct. for 28.98. I've heard that these prices are good at the stores that Wally World sell ammo at.
