Cheap/ decent .22 ammo

The closest Walmart is like 50 -60 miles away...what do they sell it for there? maybe I could con a friend in picking some up for me....Hmmmmm?

I get Federal 550 round boxes for $8-$9 includng tax at Wal Mart.

If there isn't a big 5 in your area, then you can order online. I've ordered from www.ammunitionstore.com before and had no problems. While their prices aren't the worlds cheapest, they have a pretty decent variety and they carry Wolf .22 Match ammo, which is some of the best .22 around.

the mountain view walmart is only about 30 miles away from santa cruz... i would actually need to drive further from s.f.

Well if you can buy from the CMP, you can get Federal 22lr at 3250rnds for $60 delivered to your door.... you just need to belong to a CMP affiliated club....even the CRPA membership qualifies.

I just picked up some .22 from Sportsmans' Guide. They have pretty good prices on CCI Stinger. I use it in my P22 and it packs quite a punch for .22.

For dirt cheap stuff, I like the Federal Champion value pack, often $9 at Big 5, once got it for something rediculous like $6 at Walmart. I hate to grace Walmart with my money, but I couldn't pass up the price for 550 rounds to plink. Note: decidedly not "target" ammo. If I want to adjust my scope or go for group sizes or something, I'll get Wolf MT or ME.
