Never been a fan of appendix carry. This is what could happen. For the P320 haters, it was a Glock.

I don't know if the new Glock generations are different but the 5th gen and below have a half-cocked striker which can be (at least partially) managed with a Striker Control Device. He said in the video he was drawing, not holstering, so having one on his Glock would almost certainly have made no difference.

A study from within the last decade puts AD/ND related to (un)holstering around 9%; the sample was cops, but a lot of cops use Glocks.

Sucks for this guy, hope he recovers.

Ok - I had to stop all dat and I kinda winced at having a pee pee and huevo hit with a bullet. 😔.

Side note - I’ve been carrying a loaded Glock since 1989 and even defended myself twice when thugs went wild - shot thousands of rounds through a lot of Glocks. I’m always on a heightened awareness with my tools and thank the Good Lord nothing bad has happened to me.

I’ve been shooting all kinds of firearms even since I was around 8 years old - but things like this post make me a think - maybe I should go back to the 1911 and 45 acp. Maybe a grip and thumb safety just might keep me from ( knock on wood ) blowing myself up 😝.

Revolvers were a thing and popular during my early stages of shooting, BUT there was still a thing back then - the Barney Fife. Which means having a AD with a double action revolver.

We can never be at 100% at all times, and sometimes things ( through our fault or whatever- stuff happens ), we just can be as careful as we can, have the right eq, and not have an accident.

Try to be as careful as all of us can - can’t imagine the recovery that - that man has to go through.

There's probably not much to look at. For the bullet to hit the berry and the sausage, it would be near the base.

There was a medic on this forum a long time ago that was at the range teaching a class when he heard a scream in the next bay over. He posted an after action report here including an anatomical diagram of the bullet path. In this case the bullet enter higher up and exited between the balls and the hole. He commented on the difficulties of applying bandages and applying pressure. After seeing that post, my race holster moved from the 1 o'clock position to 3 o'clock. Any thoughts of using appendix carry was gone. Don't care if it is slower to draw, I like my sausage and berries intact.

Agreed. Appendix carry has never been a comfortable way for me in the first place. I EDC IWB at the 3:30 position.

I have no problem with appendix carry. I only have two pistols I carry that way, SIG P365, and Walther PPK/S. Both of these have manual safeties, which are in the safe position. Wish him the best, and I'll be double checking my safeties from now on.

Ouch. I'm not a fan of appendix carry just because it's not comfortable for me and does not work at all.....as for the safety of it, well, that is for the individual to decide. I worked with cops that dropped their belts on the table when eating lunch and I cannot tell you how many times I was staring down the barrel of a loaded firearm while I ate. You get over it pretty fast.

Lucky for me, my belly makes appendix carry impossible. This video has me thanking my gut for the protection.

I have never conceal carried a firearm but have given it a thought as to how to carry if I did. After hearing about people blowing a hole through their fermoral artery while appendix carrying convinced me that was not the way. Then I thought about carrying it behind me above my right butt cheek. Then I saw a video of some guy in line at the cash register in a convenience store when this amish guy comes up behind him, steals his gun, and runs out the door. Ok, so that's out. Then I though, how about a shoulder holster. But then you would have to wear a jacket over it. My brother carried his with an ankle holster. Still not sure the best way. I like how light my Glock 23 is but would feel better with an external thumb safety. Wow, they call him Half-Sack. Ouch, that hurts.
