    Surplus stores in San Diego?

    Hey guys,

Been kicking myself lately trying to get down to SD to hit all the surplus stores and have finally found the time to do it. I figured with the bases down there being home to a few SOF units the stores could potentially have some cool crap.

I recompiled a list, after forgetting to save my previous one, and it is seemingly shorter than before which makes me think theres a few stores I left out. If you guys would be so kind as to enlighten me about the stores you would thing are worth paying a visit, that would be great!

P.S. Forgive me if this is the inappropriate section for this question, it seemed the most suitable in my eyes.

GI Joes was great back in the day when they were still in downtown SD, have no idea where they are now. Been to one in North Park, was very unimpressed. I can't be bothered to mill about the small stores anymore, that's why I loved the old GI Joes, not many can compare to that.

The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

GI Joes is in El Cajon now. Its meh at best. Stars and Stripes is a bit better but you can sometimes find a few gems.

There are some small ones in Oceanside by the main gate but all of that is just beat up molle gear and used uniforms basically its a cheap way to replace something one lost that was CIF issued.

Rosebuds in south San Diego isn't too bad. They carry new and used stuff. Staff isn't the friendliest but they have decent prices and have been around for 20+ years.

There are alot, perhaps 7, stores all in one area in Oceanside around GI Joes. They have a few cool things but most of it is CIF gear. If you want cool stuff go to pendletoyardsales its a great place to find gear. Just search pendleton yardsales on google it should be the first link.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

I actually think GI Joes, El Cajon is pretty good. Okay/Average on price, but it is a BIG store. Upstairs they have a pretty good selection and down in the basement they have all the seconhand stuff.

I go to rosebuds often. It is really small compared to GI Joes but i will hit up that spot first before GI Joes because they are just down the street from where I live. Staff has been great for me. Maybe because I go there often and they know im a repeat customer.

Cool, thanks guys. Names do help as I have used my google-fu to the fullest trying to find every surplus join.

Most things can be had online at reasonable prices however, I am looking for those 'gems.' I am aware that no one shop is going to be loaded with them, so I am prepared to dig.

                Thanks again

Good bit of stuff here. Good holsters and some good used stuff but don't know if you'll find many deals except on the ammo cans and MRE's
