Had a slightly different dilemma with LGS.

I had a great FFL that checked all the box's but his cost went up to do business.
Was buying from GunBroker and those fees also went up slightly
$25 + DROS and had no problem receiving from private seller as long as a copy of ID was included.
      The $25 fee....turned into $150 + DROS
Had to look for another FFL to make it worth buying online.
Would never have looked for another FFL since they always treated me right.

The cost of doing business can lead to customer loss.
I thought I was a good customer and worth getting a "loyal discount" maybe $75-$100 fee.

Keeping it local but finding out I was just another customer was a bummer.
Had even bought them lunch one time because the deal was so good on GunBroker.

Luckily I found a FFL that is only 10 minutes farther away.
Takes private seller mail, release on undetermined and charges a flat $50 that includes the DROS fee.
Also bought $100 of ammo for my new firearm as a Thank You.
Hope he did not retire....will need to check once Roster list gets a little bigger.
Since the new 11% kicked in my buying has drastically declined...0....

I couldn't imagine trying to DROS and pick up at a big box chain.

I bought FIVE guns last year from my LGS throughout the year.

One of them I had to send back for warranty work, and I used said LGS for FFL shipping. Figured it would make my life easiest to ship from the place I bought it and then have it shipped back there.

I understand the problem was created by the factory, and I had to pay shipping to send it out, but the FFL charged me a $40 service fee to box it up and have the shipper pick it up.

WTF guys.................. I bought FIVE guns from you in the last 12 months.

I do buy guns locally from LGS's. I use FFL's that specialize in PPT when the time arises. We just have spread out our consumer needs in order to make transactions happen.

You’ll be lucky if you can find a true old fashioned gun store.

my pops has taken me to the same gun store since I was 8 years old, and I’ve seen them do some shady deals, just know that no matter what - it is a business, before friendship.

Know what’s going on and if ya want to support the shop cool, maybe you’ll get a break or a fine deal - but business is business.

We can argue Local vs Big Box or Chain for every kind business. Go to the mom & pop diner vs Applebee's... Keep in mind the only person who shopping local or small is the owner. The servers, cooks, and everyone at the chain restaurants is a local. They are being paid and spend their money local. All the employees are local. For guns, it's all about price for me. A less expensive price for the same gun means I can buy more guns.

Here in az theres alot of small local shops that have decent prices can fill out 4473 and goes good walk out in 15 min with gun.Theres also a couple chain stores bass pros ans sportmans now those you may find a better deal but not by much the difference is in the time involved and the hassle of chain stores.

Suppose to be a turners there now too but not quite in phx area believe just out of the valley. So want a quick sale without corporate bs spend a few bucks more is worth it

Had positive experience with turners...bought a derya dy9 for sale price of $299. LGS didn't have any so point was moot. Very friendly, paperwork was no big deal either.

I haven't bought a gun here since the 2nd amendment 11% tax kicked in.

It's ok, I have everything I want. Same with ammo. I saw this crap coming years ago and stocked up.

I'm not giving Excremento any more money if I can avoid it. No CA income tax was paid this year as well. Starve the beast.

Turners probably gets it at a much lower wholesale price than the local store and would lose money competing.

Yep it’s just wrong. Keeping all my receipts in hopes the SCOTUS may one day the poll / 2A tax needs to be refunded.
