Where to shoot in Kern County?

Going camping this weekend and would love to take my dad out shooting. I've done some research however cannot find any clear answers. We'll be staying around the Lake Isabella area, any help is appreciated!

Check maps for BLM land. I believe there's a place off 178 just out of Lake Isabella that's BLM where guys shoot. While you're at it check on BLM & other restrictions for distance from roadway etc. Thanks for cleaning up after yourself wherever you go and hope you two have a good time together!

there is lots of blm all over there but by the airport side of the lake is the Kern valley river association gunrange you can join for 30 or 40 bucks and thats for the whole year , they even give you the combo to the gate, to sign up you go the firestation in kernville and do the paperwork in there its a great range and a steel goat out at 600 yards , range master is there only on the weeikends it seems , i live in fountain valley but camp there a couple times a year

Take the 178 east towards "chimney peak" Past the city of Onyx.

Exit there and drive up the dirt road. Lots of places around there to shoot. It's about 30 minutes east of lake isabella.

If you hit walker pass, you went waaaay too far.

5 Dogs Shooting range is also a great place north of Bakersfield if you have time. One of the best ranges I've ever been to.
