    Maybe it's just me

I have a tendance to be one of those "plan for the worst and hope for the best" types. That being said where I live is about as good as it gets these days outside of the cities. However where my wife chooses to shop for groceries is kind of on the fringe. I told her last night that she is not to go grocery shopping without me for the time being, and I hate grocery shopping. The good part being is that I am on a lifting restriction of 25 pounds till late November so I can watch things as she does her thing. Not that I can physically fight very effectively at the moment, but I can still protect those I care about.

I sure hope others have the same though process going on now. Things may get far worse before it gets better.

    Riots ~ free tactical training.

Bro, don’t let no animal attack you - being injured is not good. I hear ya on being worried about the store situation, in my spot it’s a normal day ~ I’m sure the desperate are going to head to the streets and act up.

Just have a plan and maybe another person in the vehicle, to drive away if things get sketchy.

If somewhere is fringe, don't go. Drive farther, have delivery, choose wisely.

I'm ancient and we do the grocery / Costco together. There were a couple of times things could have gone south in a parking lot had we not been a "pair". I'm certainly in no condition for fisticuffs but just "being there" may help and there are other methods to deter an incident if need be.

I’ve been married for 15 years and I stopped asking my wife where she was going about 14 years ago. I never tell her where I’m going and yet she asks me where I’m going every time I put my shoes on.

Not sure where you live, but we live in L.A. (actual city, not county or around) and wife goes to Costco/Target/Walmart by herself every week. No issues so far other than sometimes seeing homeless people loitering.

The 7-11 I stop by once in a while to buy lottery tix has one or two people asking for spare change, but nothing aggressive.

Being prepared and aware of your surroundings is prudent. However, believing the propaganda about the demise of society is not.

I remember the Rodney King riots and COVID looting. We're definitely in a different time and "things aren't as good as the good old days" but no one is coming for you or to take your guns.

Turn off the TV or switch the channel.

We can become numb, almost, to those things we see around us. We actually stop seeing real threats as threats when we see the junk around us everyday. Until you get out of the dumpster, the smell just seems normal.

This was happening to me and my family when we were living in Glendora, about 500 yards from Azusa. Since moving out of CA and into the heartland of America, those blinders have been removed. The state of Missouri allows carry for all citizens of the state. One does not know who is carrying, but it is reassuring to know that no one knows if I am carrying either. Just that deterrent alone helps to keep all, or most, in line.

Just yesterday I went to where I usually fish for bass and some duck hunters had set out about 50 decoys. No shots fired though. SO, be like a duck, and avoid the hunters trying to get you and your stuff.

CA and it's silly gun laws is currently one of those "target rich environments". Just sayin, don't be one of those targets.

How physically fit do you have to be to carry a gun? CA is must issue now, get the process started.

And do not wear bling, leave purse at home, do not have the Iphone out-pay attention to your surroundings. Don't attract attention and make yourself a target.

I went to Costco in Oxnard a couple nights ago. My wife wanted to go as well since she hadn’t been to this Costco in years. The place was noticeably less crowded, but it would appear that the illegal alien contingent is still getting their NGO handouts. Zero problems, but there is clearly a lot of animosity and suspicion towards gringos like me. I wasn’t even wearing my Border Patrol t-shirt, but was wearing a War Doll Kanagawa Cowabunga hoodie.

My wife, having become accustomed to the SLO and Carson City Costco stores, was completely appalled at the Oxnard ghetto merchandise selection and clientele. She won’t be going back, ever.

                          That's understandable.

I thought that "big sticks" i.e., mags over 10 rounds were illegal. Or am I misreading your post?
