Legal Shooting Area Near Morro Bay

My friend that lives there says their local place is shut down and may or may not reopen.

Is there any public land within an hour of there to shoot? I tried searching but they don't seem to care for freedom much in the area. We just want to go out for a couple hours. I think we went to a public range at the Wildlife Refuge a few years back but it is also closed now.

Not much up there. You'd think there would be more places as there is a lot of open land up in the Central Coast? Make friends with a rancher who has a few thousand acres?

Join the National Guard. Their range is right off 101. Saw them out shorting pistols in June. 😬
The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.

SLOSA is slowly reopening. They had a USPSA match a couple weeks ago. Hopefully the long range side reopens but it seems doubtful.
        what a waste.

That would be great news. I shot the Coastal Classic there last year and used to shoot the IRC.
