I know what you mean. My sons and I got back into trap. I have and old mec 600 jr I got to drag out from under the bench. I recently acquired 8# of some Alliant (extra lite) powder from a fellow CGer. Just gotta get off my lazy butt and get going.

I got my sg press from a former coworker for a twelve pack. He and his roommate shared a storage facility. One day the roomie was gone and left no forwarding address.

Nice find. SR 4756 is an older powder often used for shotgun loads. If it smells fine, it’s probably still good, but be cautious, cool collectible either way.

I used a lot of IMR 4756 in the 70's & 80's for heavy, 12 Ga. Duck loads. Doesn't work for 12 target loads. The can is 8 oz. The powder works well for 9MM & 38 Spl.and a few other handgun loads. You can find some old IMR load data on the net.

I have a 1/2 can left over that I'm using up in some 9MM loads. If you don't load for handgun, find someone who can use it. If It's still good, it should be used up. Your can look a bit worse for wear.

My 1/2 can still looks like new and the powder is good. Last year, I used up a can of Alcan #5 from the 1950's in some 38 Spl. loads.

Powder can last a long time if stored properly.

The powder is fine I'm trying to sell it for 20.bucks to someone who can use it it's almost full . The can is a little beat up but the powder does not smell pungent or old .
