Anyone Use Zelle for PPT Transactions?

Title says it all... anyone use Zelle to transfer funds for a PPT? There are obvious pros and cons associated with whatever funding method is used. I think I understand reasonably well, but who knows... maybe the CG brain trust can weigh in.

As long as you have posession of the firearm at the FFL your doing the PPT after inspecting it, I see no difference than using cash. If your the seller, make sure there is no way they could claw back the payment if they fail PPT or have buyers remorse.

You are both going to be in the same place at the same time when you do the PPT. Have them bring cash.

As guns have a 10+ day wait, it's probably OK

all sorts of scams happen with someone's compromised Zelle account.

mind you there is movie money on Amazon that looks a lot like real money and feels like real money

I still prefer cash and if selling, a notice that I charge a 30% restocking fee if they fail dros.

I actually prefer to use it as buyer or seller. You get a notification as soon as they send it. It goes directly to your bank account and once it's sent, it's sent. They can't just take it back

I am not seeing how a Zelle scam would work if the FFL is actually identifying the buyer and the DOJ is running it. Wouldn't the buyer be committing a felony (stealing a firearm) and giving you all of their personal information while doing so? Seems like a particularly stupid crime. Can someone tell me what I am missing?

Zelle is just like a wire. It's very secure. If the payment goes through, it's unlikely to be reversed unless one can show to the bank that fraud was involved.

When you send via Zelle, at least where I bank, there’s a disclosure form you have to acknowledge which more or less says “I acknowledge this transaction is irreversible.” Not sure if this is standard operating procedure everywhere but it would not be surprising if so.

Zelle is convenient and fairly secure for both parties. As long as it is agreed upon in advance I have used it as both buyer and seller. The last sale I did the buyer didn’t mention it and showed up without cash, but it wasn’t a huge deal and I had no problem accepting.

Most banks use Zelle and you don't need an app. It's also FDIC insured. It's good to go.

I’ve used it recently and prefer it to carrying large amounts of cash. Only issue I’ve run into was a daily limit on my main bank account. Luckily I could finish the full payment using Zelle with my other bank account.

For what it's worth, and it may be nothing, Zelle prohibits its use for the purchase of firearms or ammunition. I have no idea how they would find out in a PPT, but here is the link.

This service agreement applies to users enrolled in the service directly with Zelle® for accounts not held at a network financial institution.

So we are all concerned about digital currency essentially eliminating any remaining semblance of control over our autonomy, but we're going to use it for buying and selling guns. What could go wrong?

I don't even buy guns from dealers without cash, I don't want the government, banks and credit card companies tracking my purchases. I know with a PPT, Zelle wouldn't know that we used it for a gun transaction
but there are still things that can go sideways.

We use Zelle in our business to pay freelancers because we are forced to do so. We have a seen a LOT of weird issues with payment receiving being held up with Zelle and twice, money simply disappeared, it left our business
account but the recipients Zelle account never received the money, Zelle is far from foolproof and different banks treat Zelle transactions in inconsistent ways.

For buying and selling guns, CASH. We had better start using more cash for more things or there soon won't be any cash and then we will have opened up a whole new can of worms.

Of all the money services Zelle is definitely the most secure. I'm sure if my bank ever looked into my account, they would think, man, this guy sure loves pizza parties.

I agree, more or less, and the point about how things can go sideways is well-taken. You always ought to consider how things can go wrong. The place where I bank has, in the past, taken a few business days to effect a Zelle transfer. I can't think why, but sellers have been skeptical, until the deposit arrives.

My recent purchases of new firearms have been cash only.

I'm sure it is sort of obvious to the CG brain trust crowd, but taking thou$and$ in cash to a PPT to meet some stranger, even if I am strapped, gives me pause to think, how could that go wrong?
