      The barrel locks up on the barrel lug, not the link. If you can push down on the hood, that means the barrel was not fitted correctly. Using a longer link will results in link pin break eventually and the barrel not supported correctly (affects accuracy). Unfortunately, that will be the exact fix most gun smith will use.

      BTW the link should be loose when the gun locks up. If not, then again, the barrel is not fitted correctly.

      To fix correctly, you may need a new barrel maybe with oversize barrel lug area to be fitted.
