    Surprised by drop test

Sorry if anyone posted this video before but I found this very interesting. Especially since I own and like my SIG P320, which did not fire on it's own when dropped. However, all of the 2011's they tested did fire on their own when dropped and that is one of the next guns I'd like to get. I don't know a lot about Garand Thumb. I guess some people love/hate him and, of course, this is not a super controlled test but I found it interesting.

I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

The last time I had faith in the News was when it was with Huey Lewis.

Interesting. Like you, my next gun will likely be a 2011. Maybe I should hold off until 2011 manufacturers figure out how to prevent this.

Some series 70 1911’s ( 2011’s, which basically are based on 1911’s ) can do that, the series 80’s have more modern approach safeties when dropped.

As to the 320 ~ I rather protect mis huevos 😁

Isn't it a known thing ? 2011's are race guns, they aren't built for safety.

Series 70 1911 style guns do not have a firing pin block. If dropped on the muzzle, the inertia of the firing pin can set off the primer. Series 80 fixes the problem by introducing a firing pin block at the expense of the trigger pull. One work around of a series 70 is the use of a titanium firing pin and heavier rebound spring, which requires a heavier hammer spring. They set this up to pass the drop test, but may still go off if dropped higher. Springfield used a titanium firing pin.
