i went to turners around 4 pm . three people behind the counter, one was doing the paper work selling a hand gun ok. the other two were just chatting with another guy. i was the only other person their. i walked up and down the display case and kept trying to make eye contact. after 10 minutes i walked over to the lady you pay as you go out and told here i was not happy and left. i own a auto repair shop and no matter how many things are going on if somebody walks in my shop i at least say hi and i will be right with you. other times at this turners i have been treated properly. so i went over to big 5 and was as always treated like a king. i was going to buy a gun locker and a savage 223 bolt action from turners. the one in orange will get my money now or big 5.

Why not just ask a sales person if they can help you? -
Sometimes I go into a gun store and I know what I want. I want to buy it right here, right now, but I get pissed because the sales guys just wont give me any attention, he just keeps looking at me but not saying anything. It's like he's waiting for me to speak up.
Sometimes I go into a gun store and I just want to look at all of the guns in the display. I really have no money and I'm not going to buy something. I'm just trying to kill some time on my lunch break. But I get pissed because the sales guys keep bothering me by constantly asking if I want help or if I need anything. Just shut up already I told the first guy and the second guy!
Sometimes I go into a gun store and I just want to buy a gun. But I get pissed because while I'm filling out my paperwork the sales guy keeps pushing all of these other products on me. I feel so pressured, it's like they're trying to pry every last dollar out of me. I wish I could just buy these things on the internet and not have to deal with sales people.
Sometimes I go into a gun store and I have no idea what gun I want and what else I need to buy. But I'm getting pissed because the sales guy hasn't said a word to me about the gun. He just handed it to me and expected me to know what to do with it. I just bought it because it's the only thing he showed me and I felt awkward asking for something different. So now I have this gun, but I don't have any ammo or cleaning supplies and I don't know where to start.
I'm a customer and I'm never happy no matter what kind of service I get at the gun store. So here I go to rant about it on the net.
Different customers have different ways of shopping. Different sales guys have different ways of selling. If the sales guy isn't going to put in the time to "read" you and figure out what kind of buyer you are, then certainly you do have the option to go someplace else and rant about the store online, but the transaction is a two way street. Why not just talk to the sales guy and figure him out? Worst case scenario is the conversation goes bad and you never step foot in the place again... which is exactly what would have happened if you didn't speak up in the first place so...WTB .357 Lever Action:

Exactly. I highly doubt anyone there was trying to ignore you. I go there all the time and have never had a problem with service. If you need anything just let if be known. Yes they probably should have greeted you and asked if you needed anything but hey everybody goofs up once in a while. Just don't be afraid to jump in and say something or ask for help with a product of theirs.Last edited by Muscles Glasses; 05-17-2012, 9:32 AM.If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

i was standing their at the display case like i said. did i do something wrong. i tried to make eye contact . what other reason would i walk into a almost empty store and lean over the counter trying to see prices and making eye contact. i am not special, just a regular guy wanting to spend some money.Comment

eh, I am leaning more towards NOTABIKER's attitude on this one. I seldom window shop and if I do, I state flat out I am just looking. That way the salesperson knows that I don't expect them to be hanging around. But nothing pisses me off more than when I am standing with cash burning a hole in my pocket and two employees are standing around, playing grabass and acting like you walked into to their private club.

Turner's in Fountain Valley has top notch guys behind the gun counter. Atleast that is my experience with them. They are super friendly, and give great customer service . Because of the great service I have always gotten from them, my friends and I have spent a lot of money there.i went to turners around 4 pm . three people behind the counter, one was doing the paper work selling a hand gun ok. the other two were just chatting with another guy. i was the only other person their. i walked up and down the display case and kept trying to make eye contact. after 10 minutes i walked over to the lady you pay as you go out and told here i was not happy and left. i own a auto repair shop and no matter how many things are going on if somebody walks in my shop i at least say hi and i will be right with you. other times at this turners i have been treated properly. so i went over to big 5 and was as always treated like a king. i was going to buy a gun locker and a savage 223 bolt action from turners. the one in orange will get my money now or big 5.Comment

i guess i should have walked over to them and started asking questions while they were talking to each other. my mom taught me manners. i just stand their in a empty store and wait my turn. unlike bass pro shop they do not take numbers. maybe they should. like i said another time a employe was really helpful in picking out a savage mark 2 FV. printing out info etc to help me. i think in my situation yesterday most of you would have walked out.Comment

I had the same problem at the same store, and had paperwork in my hand to pickup my gun. They were decent guys once I got their attention, but I also do not like to interrupt. I think that if you want business you should at least acknowledge a person in your store. I am fine with waiting if I at least know they are making an effort to get to me. Another local gun shop lost a chance of taking the $1300 dollars that I was willing to spend. They didn't have the gun that I wanted in stock when I was browsing. If they had said that they could order it, I would have gone back to them. When I got serious, Turners had it in stock and they got my money. Customers are finicky and retailers should keep that in mind.He who dies with the most tools/toys wins

It's the retail associates JOB to acknowledge every customer that walks through the door. Ignoring customers is bad business.
And most likely if he would have intruded on the conversation of the associates they probably would not have taken too kindly to it."Then there are sheepdogs. However, he lives for that day when he will be able to use his warrior skills and mindset to keep the wolf from harming the sheep."Comment

They should have acknowledged you before you have to ask for help. They should not treat you like a ghost. The store's not big enough to where they didn't see or notice you. Just bad business.i guess i should have walked over to them and started asking questions while they were talking to each other. my mom taught me manners. i just stand their in a empty store and wait my turn. unlike bass pro shop they do not take numbers. maybe they should. like i said another time a employe was really helpful in picking out a savage mark 2 FV. printing out info etc to help me. i think in my situation yesterday most of you would have walked out.

And yes they can. That's what they're getting paid to do. I can understand if there was a line of customers waiting for help but that is not so in this situation. The workers can't help every window shopper. I know how you feel. I went to Target the other day and walked by all kinds of employees going about their business. I tried to stare at them so they would look at me and come over to help me decided what breakfast cereal I needed but they never did. Needless to say ill be going to walmart from now on.
Seriously though. If there is someone just standing around its not rude to go and ask for help. They are are standing around talking cause there's nothing else to do. If a customer walks up and asks for something theyll be more than happy to help. Everyone wants to be waited on hand and foot. I know the audacity that you should actually have to ask for some help. Plenty of people go in gun stores all day long and just look the one's who want something go up and ask for it.Comment
