    Diane Feinstein

    Letter from Feinstein:

    Dear Mr. S:

Thank you for writing to express your concerns about possible ratification of an international treaty aimed at stemming the proliferation of small arms and light weapons worldwide. I appreciate hearing your views on this issue and welcome the opportunity to respond.

I understand you have serious concerns about this proposed treaty. The purpose of the ongoing negotiations is to draft a legally binding treaty on the export, import, and international transfer on conventional weapons. It will not address the personal ownership of guns or gun owners' rights. The actual drafting of the treaty will take place in 2012.

Please know that I strongly support this process. According to Amnesty International, more than 500,000 people per year are killed with conventional arms, and almost 60% of documented human rights violations have involved the use of small arms and light weapons. Further, the Small Arms Survey estimates that there are more than 875 million firearms in the world today, roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. These numbers help to underscore the fact that a majority of the deaths in conflicts worldwide are small arms-related.

While we do not necessarily agree on this particular issue, please know that your views are important to me, and I will keep them in mind should the Senate discuss ratification of such a treaty.

Again, thank you for writing. I hope that you will continue to write on matters of importance to you. Should you have any further comments or questions, please feel free to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dianne Feinstein
    United States Senator

Sounds like all she sends me: her logic and reason is lacking...

She will NOT keep this in mind, when she votes for anything.

She was NOT selected on my ballot I just mail in last week, nor has she ever been, nor will she ever be.

Democrats want power so they can take our rights, step on your head, and push their "AGENDA", unlike the any other political party. We have seen this the most in the last 3.5 years. They do not care about the other ramifications, nor the rights of people, but only getting their way.

          The "Knife-commies".

Then the "Stone(d)-Nazis" for the thrown-stones.

Then the beech-smack-Nazis, for the beach-smackin'.

Received the same letter. Usually politicians send a response letter that just confirms that they received your letter.

Looks like this is so important to their cause that she must respond with an actual pro argument, like there is no way she could be wrong because amnesty international is in favor and she works for them and not us.

Also the 500,000 deaths, how many were in self defense?

One gun for every 7 people, if it was one gun for every person maybe the innocent would have a better chance.

Good thing that most of us are WELL ABOVE THAT NUMBER even in one household.

She neglected to state how many rapes, and other violent crimes they DO IN FACT PREVENT DAILY. Apparently "these people" think that rape is okay, and we shouldn't defend from violent acts such as rape because "they know best" and have a degree in "did too many drugs" to think about a bigger picture then their agenda. This can be the only assumption.

What about cars! there are more vehicle related deaths annually than firearm related deaths annually. Are they going to ban cars?

A while ago I sent her a letter detailing my opposition to some legislation she was co-sponsoring. I received a response thanking me for supporting her position.
