Night Vision Shooting - Legal in California?

Hey guys, just trying to get accurate information regarding shooting with Night Vision in California on BLM land.

I tried searching previous threads but the search feature is buggy and I couldn't find the info I was looking for.
Ideally I would like to get an NV setup but don't want to JUST use it when I'm out of state.

    Thanks guys for any information!

I have an entire thread written up about this topic. Yes it's legal, and NVG has more uses than just shooting. If you are into astronomy, it'll blow your mind.

INTRO This thread will consist of some basic information for those interested in the world of night vision. It is in no way in-depth, however it should provide a sufficient primer and answer questions I have been asked by a good number of people on this forum through PMÂ’s and texts; the interest is definitely here. Night vision sniper scope, sounds retarded.

Absolutely agree! I'd be using helmet binos though, would this change anything?

Definitely, if I can, I would like to do high FOM ARNCG's and a bump helmet. Already running the risers and LAMs.

What NV set did you end up going with?

No one said you had to be. But they are superior ear pro, and being able to click them out when not needed is nice, and its more comfortable than wearing them under a helmet

Dropping 800 on some ear protection for me is silly. But by all means go for it. Doing the walker’s mod is cheaper

Thermal does not fall under the sniperscope law because it does not need a lightsource.

Question regarding a possible work around. What if a person happens to be hunting with an IR sensitive scope. And a companion has a IR projector pointed in the same direction. Does anything in the dumbazz "sniper scope" statute disallow an IR source not in control of the hunter?

                              Just a thought. 🤔
