IDK, most manufacturers have issues with something. If you like 1911's, I say buy.
As far as placing your life on the line with it, I would put 100's of rounds through it to be confident with it.

This is now in my Top 3 choices to fill my CCW spot. Springer EMP, CZ P01, Sig P365....but I think I am pulling the Sig off as I prefer hammer fire. I know the 1911 is safe to chamber cock and locked...and the P01 can be put in DA. Plus both are metal frames which I prefer to assist in recoil control.

EMP is nicely balanced but still has a bit of barrel lift. To be expected in a short barrel 9mm. Accuracy is not as good as my 1911 9mm Target, but will hit the minute of man target.

Machining and fit are excellent. Ought to be for a $1300 mouse gun.

I had such high hopes for this thread. I thought maybe there'd be some erudite comparisons and contrasts of the Kimber against the 3.5" Rock Island GI Standard, the Colt Defender, and other subcompact 1911 .45s.

But it looks like you got all you asked for and more. Not only did they talk you out of the Kimber, they may have talked you out of the 1911 platform and the .45 acp caliber.
