Bear Creek Arsenal Complete bolt action AR-15s for $530

Bear Creek Arsenal are selling bolt action AR-15s in 450 Bushmaster and 350 Legend complete rifles for $530 and bolt action uppers for $345.

When I lived in Cali I would have been all over this.

I can’t imagine any scenario where I would want a bolt action AR15.

Remove the gas tube and you have a straight pull bolt action on any upper.

        Subsonic loads with a suppressor.
Semi-auto actions are noisy when the action cycles.
Bolt actions keep the breech sealed so that the can expands and slows down ALL of the combustion gasses behind the bullet.
Semi-autos typically open the breech while there is still some pressure in the barrel and that pressure makes more noise coming out of the breech than if you forced it all to go through the suppressor.

Having an actual handle that rotates the bolt makes the gun much easier to unlock and cycle.
AR-15's without a gas system still have a traditional bolt carrier that is designed to be opened by gas pressure and not by the charging handle.
Traditional gas operation AR parts are not optimized for manual cycling like a proper bolt action is.

I understand the idea of them being difficult to operate and the logic behind why it would be. But i can honestly say i built two of these straight pull design ARs a few years ago when the Stoner side charger upper bolt combos were on sale at midway. I have shot the crap out of both rifles and have never had a single issue manually pulling them. Not one. I thought i would hate them and sell them off but truth is they are pretty fun to shoot.

States that have straight wall cartridge laws for hunting, it makes sense.

OP, do you have experience of bca accuracy against a similarly priced bolt action? Like say a ruger ranch ?

No, they were just introduced this week so I doubt that anyone has a lot of experience with them. I'm in Kentucky so I no longer have a use for one. I just thought that you Californians might be interested in them.
