Pretty basic peening question: loose glock rear sight

I picked up a Brownells optic cut slide for my G 19 gen 3. Its nice. Im putting a holosun EPS on it. I recently put an eps carry on my Sig 365 and i shoot it in IDPA. Green dot is a new way to shoot for me. I use reading glasses, and cannot see the irons without them, but that makes the target very blurry.

with the dot, i use my distance vision and focus on the tsrget with both eyes. Game changer for these tired eyes.

so i want to upgrade my G 19.

i picked up some 2d hand suppressor sights for a good price. But e rear sight is very loose, like easily push all the way through loose. It wont rattle in there, but almost.

i have a spring punch and confirmed with Randall that he would either peen the slide (!) where the sight will cover it or peen the bottom of the sight.

before i do this, my plan is to peen the bottom edge of the sight to put a small dimple on the angled part of the dovetail, is that right?

id rather not peen the slide itself.

Well, no thanks to anyone, I did this. I flipped the rear sight so that the bottom flat was up, put it on a piece of scrap steel on top of a piece of tape to protect it, and dialed the spring punch to as light as it would strike.

One tiny kiss with the punch and I had to use the MGW press to center the sight.

    So now I'm a gunsmith.

Well, had Calguns been working for me, I would have answered and suggested to exactly that. Yeah, a light punch was all it needed.

      Glad it worked for you.

Super simple. I watched a video of a guy fitting sights, one rear was too tight for his punch, then he literally hit it with 4 file strokes and it fell straight through. The amount of metal we are talking is minimal.

No, don't peen the slide, peen the bottom of the sight. Do it on either end near the edges and one in the middle near the edge for good measure. Glad to see you figured it out.
