    Leupold rifle scope questions

Years ago I bought a Leupold fire dot rifle scope that is a 30mm tube. Windage and elivation adjustments are metric 1cm. Why would Leupold make this type of adjustment for the american market. It doesnt work well with American measurment targets due to the different movement, 1cm=.3975vs1/4 inch .250. Is it possible to get the scope converted to inches 1/4 inch movements? TIA

Which model? I thought the VXs were all MOA, not MIL.

It's a VX.R 4-12x40 FireDot 4, says quantum optical system on the box.

Why would that matter? How are you using your scope that you can't use the 1 cm adjustments to correct your shot?

Why did you buy a Milradian scope if you only think of "inches" at the target? Yes, a certain segment of the American shooting population uses mils for distance and wind holds...but that's not the typical American hunter.

Unfortunately Leupold closed their custom shop years before covid and have no plans of ever re-opening. Best thing to do is sell it and get something measured in " inch per hundred yard."

The LEUPOLD VX-R 4-12x40 CDS Rifle Scope, FireDot Duplex Reticle (111238) comes with an exclusive Custom Dial System (CDS), which lets you tailor your scope settings to your specific ballistics and sight-in conditions.

The VX-R riflescope has a rugged 30mm maintube, which offers an increased range of adjustment for windage and elevation over traditional 1" tube. Finger click adjustments for windage and elevation (1/4-MOA) offer absolute repeatability and dependability over a lifetime of extreme use.
VX-R Patrol features 1/10th-mil windage and elevation dials for quick, natural adjustments

Is yours the Patrol? If not, then your adjustments look like they are MOA. If so, why did you buy a "Patrol" version for hunting?

No, it is not a Patrol nor is it CDS 17282515490396990803910105290552.jpg

It is not a mil scope it uses cm instead of inches. This tablet takes crazy pictures but it's posted above

Another crappy picture, I need to try something else to clean this up. I don't own a mil scope of any kind and had I noticed it I would not have bought this one.

Leupold does this. One number different in the SKU and you'll end up with mil instead of MOA. Made the same mistake myself. Wouldn't bother me for hunting most likely since I hold over.

Another oddity about this is the box has Leupold & Steven's on it. I have a brand new Leupold 30mm Windplex still in the box and it doesn't have Steven's on it and it is a CDS. I wish this took better pictures.

I almost always get close enough to hold on, I've only had to make 2-3 shots at or over 400 yards in my life and I made them all. 50 to 100 yards is what I try for or closer, I like closer. I do understand mils but simply don't use them.

It's pretty telling that I had to dig around and even then couldn't find the exact scope you were referring to until you posted the SKU. Seems like it wouldn't be that hard to adopt a more customer friendly classification system, instead of wading through a bunch of bad internet information regarding otherwise seemingly identical scopes.
