    Light weight revolver

Wife needs something lighter now, 5-6 shots (38cal/357 or 9mm.. 380 would be great, but likely never gonna happen) 4 inch barrel for certain. She carriers an EMP (in purse) (30.5 oz with out ammo) now, & loves it. But the weight is getting to her, & with extra mag an all, with what a wife's carry in their purses, so diet is needed, & this is likely it. Lets face it, she's, very likely (like me) will never to shoot it in a situation (like most all of us, we avoid these places). So, something light, that she can get in this liberal state.

    1st.
She likes nice things (looks good) like all of us want. 2nd needs to be (hopefully) on roster, or made to do so. I would imagine Titanium would be a top pick. FYI she love a wood grips. So this would be a nice thing if possible. What say you CGner's... Will you help me in this endeavor ?

Pic's would be great, if you can do them on this site now, but certainly not necessary \.

    Thanking you in advance.

SIG P365 comes in .380, maybe it's on roster? It's about 20 ounces.

edit: They have a kali-legal X Macro comp, 21.5 ounces, 9mm but the comp may make it controllable enough.

The 4" barrel is the problem.
Why would you want a 4" barrel on a carry gun?
There are lots of 2" barreled aluminum framed 38 special revolvers on the roster.
Revolver barrels are measured WITHOUT the cylinder so the barrel would be around 3.5" if you are comparing them to pistols where the barrel length includes the chamber.
Choose your brand and go practice with it until proficient.

As an example, a Kimber K6XS is 15.9 ounces unloaded.
The K6xs™ is an extra small, ultra-lightweight .38 Special revolver with all the features of its larger framed sibling the K6s™. The K6xs™ uses the same lightweight, non-stacking trigger system from the K6s™. Also features a fluted glass-bead finish cylinder and barrel slot cut to further lighten the K6xs™ for the perfect carry weight. The big news for Kimber’s K6s™ line is the addition of the K6xs™. Not only is it the lightest K6s ever, it offers something others in its category don’t: six-round capacity. Built specifically for concealed carry and chambered in .38 SPL +P, the aluminum alloy frame and fluted cylinder keep the revolver’s total weight under a pound (15.9 ounces). The K6xs™ wears a silver KimPro II finish on the frame and a glass-bead finish on the 2-inch, stainless-steel barrel. The Hogue rubber Cobblestone grips with finger grooves make it comfortable to shoot.

Wood grips are available from Hogue:

Ugly but LCR is light. I have the 357 version and my mother can pull the trigger. Accurate enough for it to be on my ccw.

Oops, I saw ".380" and forgot the revolver part.

I have an aluminum .38 snub. Your wife won't like shooting those. Even my stainless 20 oz .38 is no fun. Maybe a .327 or something like that is best.

One of the alloy S&W J Frame revolvers. Avoid the 642 (?) the one with the hidden hammer they are DA only and pretty stiff on the trigger. The one with the shrouded hammer gives you the SA DA option.

Smith Model 60 Pro series 22 ounces, wood grips, decent trigger. Change out the front sight for fiber optic and it's near perfect for a small carry revolver.

                You mention .380....

On the other hand, the great Bill Jordan (Sheriff, also Border Patrol, a Quick Draw artist and author No Second Place Winner) once remarked on the then-new .22 WMR (.22 Magnum) as a "wicked little cartridge" and suggested it would be a great round in a little lightweight snub.

Years later Smith & Wesson released the 351PD (Personal Defense) - a 10.8 ounce unloaded, all-alloy frame and cylinder wearing a shrouded stainless barrel. It's a 7-shot J-Frame. I have one and it's terrific for what it is. Much rather have it than any .380 for the little rimfire magnum's velocity numbers.

Or have a look at the all-stainless J-Magnum frame .357 - the S&W Model 60. The 60-15 wears a 3" barrel, is .357 capable but .38 Spl +P is about perfect in it from a perceived recoil aspect.

She really doesn't need to carry an extra magazine. Keep what she has because what your asking for isn't going to be better. I carry a 442 j frame and a g19. Yes he frame is dam lighta

That actually sounds pretty good. The bad part is rimfire doesn't have the greatest ignition, but with a revolver, you can quickly get to the next hole. Just have to train with the mindset of a possible dud. Do they still make those?

The guy famous for the cheek pistol and 14 inch "shotgun" advocates for a small .22 lr, magnum would be much better. I have a .22 magnum rifle. So I know there's a substantial difference in power.

I believe they do, but it appears to have gained six-tenths of one ounce of weight:

Some may say that's a lot of dough for a little snub, but when you look at it's flyweight advantage... and I might have paid $749 or something ten years ago but that was before the scamDempanic. Before "Bidenomics".

It’s funny man because I think it’s all just personal perspective. I shot and carried a 642 for years and ended up replacing it with a 638 and really think the 642/442 is a better rig.

topical to this fellow looking for a lightweight ccw revolver but full size, best I could recommend to split the difference is Ruger makes the LCRX mixed polymer and steel revolver in a 3” model with an exposed hammer. I know they make it in .357, they may make it in a standalone .38, I’d probably just do the .357 and use .38 in it.

Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

Tauras 605 357/38, they also have similar frame in 327 magnum and 22 magnum.
It's small enough for pocket carty, belly band, or holster.

My 642 is my local go to gun (Glock 19 for the city and Glock 30 for the ghetto). I recommended the one with hammer access because his wife might not have the hand strength to make accurate DA shots with the 642.
