Optometrist for RX shooting eyewear in SOCAL

Anyone have a good Optometrist in North San Diego or South Orange County? My eyes are showing signs of age and I am struggling with front sights, dots, etc. My current Doc isn't showing interest in my questions so I am looking for a SME.

Why not just get your eye prescription updated (the optometrist will give you a copy of it), then utilize an online eye glass vendor to make impact resistant prescription glasses/goggles for you.

    Example...
Zenni Optical can make ANSI Z87.1-2020+ impact rating prescription eyeglasses.

I use Rx shooting glasses, but there's a catch; each sport needs a different script. So I have a couple pairs of Rx glasses. For example, the conventional formula for rifle iron sights is adding a certain amount of + (positive) diopter to your normal distance vision: Garand/M1A is +.50, AR15 +.75

Pistol is a little bit different. Some people incorrectly assume it should be adjusted to the distance to the front sight. They bring their pistol to the optometrist office and set the focus perfectly on the front sight. Unfortunately this is too "strong" and causes the target to become excessively blurry. It will work for IDPA silhouettes in daylight, but may be too blurry for Bullseye or indoor shooting ranges. Generally the focus should be 12 to 16 inches further than the front sight. This number is usually around +1.0 to +1.25 diopter added to your distance vision.

I had my glasses made at Zenni also, and they work fine for me. I don't do red dots, so I can't add any information with those sights. Hopefully this helps.

I have used Wiley X Sabre with the RX insert for years. Cost a minimum of $200 each time to update the RX insert at my local eye doc. The RX is usually the middle of my trifocal glasses plus "2 clicks" . Front sight and targets look good.

This year, bought a pair of shooting glasses off the shelf at walmart, $9.99, bought a pair of 1.25 power reading glasses, popped the lenses out, lightly silicone glued the lenses into the shooting glasses.

Works perfect, $20.00 +/-. Everyone's eyes are different so I am happy this approach works for me.
