1,843rd DROS

Stopped by City Arms in Pacifica this afternoon to look around been tossing around a .22 pistol but a Sig P2022 caught my eye and after a little fondling I had to have it! The shop was busy with other sales, pickups and PPT's. I had mentioned something to the lady handling my paperwork about how busy they were and she looked at the computer and said I was the 1,843rd DROS in California today, and this was at 6:30! I knew gun sales were up but man!

2 Months ago I went and drosd my sp101. I got my paper work done 30 minutes after the store opened and the clerk said, " hey guess what? You are the 11th person to be drosd today". I said damn alot of people buy guns in ca....

When i bought my winchester model88 it was dros number 3302. That was at 2pm on a saturday!?!?

That is awesome, now if all of those people would do the NRA round up on their purchases, give a buck to Cal Guns, and actually take some action regarding gun rights in California we could really get some stuff done.

Some aren't buys though. DROS numbers count PPTs too, but it's still a load of guns in circulation.

Add up the total for the year, divide by 365 and you get close to 5000 DROS per day. (this also counts the interfamily transfers).

A Turners manager told me the chain does on average about 1300 DROS per day just from their business. (all the stores)

The sad thing is, as amazing as these numbers seem, it really isn't that many for the size of California.

I was recently in Texas at the Fort Worth Cabelas. After spending about 3 hours handling virtually every rifle in the place I was talking to a manager. I remarked about how amazing I found it to see someone walk out of the store with a rifle ever couple of minutes and he told me they were the #2 Cabelas in the chain as far as gun sales went. Last year they sold just north of 47,000 rifles. That didn't include pistols, he said he didn't know the number off hand but it was over 100k for pistols. And thats just 1 store.

Even assuming that 50% are PPTs, that's still an impressive number of new sales.
