Yes all the 40 caliber models made by Glock are "snappy".... If you don't like the "snap" go try a 9 or 45 because they shoot much better than the 40. Or try the S&W M&P line....It's ok to be jealous. We understand your animosity. We live the life you wish you had. And of over 4000 universities and over 1700 division 1 schools, only one is simply known as "The U" -

Again with this "snap" stuff, lol
The G23 I have is fine, I don't worry about this so called "snap" I shoot the gun as any other gun.

The M&Pc is smaller than the G23, by the way. You may have more luck with a larger frame pistol, but it is just the nature of the 40 cal round. It's totally manageable with practice and a proper grip.Comment

All .40 S&W guns have the same "snap", though it may be mitigated somewhat by design or weight. It's just how that caliber recoils.
If you don't like it, 9mm and .45 ACP are reasonable alternatives."[T]he liberties of the American people [are] dependent upon the ballot-box, the jury-box, and the cartridge-box . . without these no class of people could live and flourish in this country." -- Frederick Douglass (1892)Comment

The recoil impulse (the time it takes for the gun to transfer the recoil to your hands) of the .40S&W round is shorter than .45acp, so it seems like the .40 is more of a "snap" than the "push" of the 45, but don't be confused, the .40 definitely recoils less (talking about the amount of force here) than the .45.
Actually, the .40S&W recoil impulse and the 9mm recoil impulse are very close to the same. It's just that the .40 recoils a little more than the 9mm, so it makes the shooter think the recoil is worse than it actually is.
Something to consider when talking plastic framed pistols is that a dual recoil spring will lengthen the recoil impulse of the .40 round so it feels more like the "push" of a .45 than the quick "snap" in the single recoil spring guns. If you can shoot a (Gen 3) Glock 27 and a 23 side by side, you will be able to tell the difference. The subcompact feels like it shoots softer than the compact because of the different recoil springs."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
