Will a baby humidifier hurt my guns?

I know, this might be one of those stupid "they're implements of war not crystal figurines, dumb*****" moments, but I figured I'd check.

I have a newborn daughter, and wife wants to start using the humidifier to help keep her from getting colic. However, I don't have an environmentally sealed container for my firearms....so I'm wondering if the humidifier will screw with my rifles.

I doubt the Saiga 12 will have any problems, and the Sig is finished all over. I guess I'm more worried about the bead blasted stainless steel match barrels on two of my ARs.

Can I assume they'll be fine? Or do I need to do some rearranging?

should be fine for the guns, put a dry pack thing the safe...

but?? colic and humidifier as a cure??? wtf??? my son has never had colic and he is 9 1/2 months old. mylicon is a better way to prevent colic,a humidifier is better for nose 'breathing, wheezing.

Are your guns in your daughter's room and not in a safe? If they're not in the same room as the humidifier you should be fine. Also, get some sort of safe or cabinet. She'll be crawling around before you know it and she will get into everything.

Oh, I don't know what the hell the humidifier is for, give me a break.

Baby sleeps in our room due to age and small condo, so yeah...baby humidifier is in same room as (legally secured) guns.

            ^This.

Even if they are in the same room and in cases I don't think they will be effected.

Time to buy a safe or locker though.

Humidity is the friend of rust. Rust and politicians are the enemy of guns.

If you can't fit a safe in the room, get a couple of gun socks designed for storing guns. They are usually permeated with silicon to inhibit rust.

Ahh, I see. Well if moving guns out of the room isn't possible or easy, I'd say keeping them in cases or a closet should mitigate most of the chance of rust.

Just check your guns every few days when you start using the humidifier, and at least once every couple weeks after that to check for rust. It's always easier to remedy when it's caught early.

A cool damp room will aid rust and mold.

Get rid of the baby and you won't need the humdifier, seriously it's going to cut into your purchases and range time. We had 3 before we figured out where they were coming from.

You are in for the best times of your life but do get a safe if you don't have one. The humidity could encourage rust on the firearms. I have never heard of using the device to prevent colic you might do some research.

Silicon gun sleeves, about $5 from Sportsmans guide. One of the few things they'll ship to CA... ;-)

So dehumidifiers keep the politicians away? Good to know!

Back on topic... even with a safe or a locker, you will need to get some sort of dehumidifying element in there, baby humidifier or not. Plus, apparently it'll keep politicians from your guns

If you're really concerned about possible moisture issues just get some Rig grease or other gun grease and put a thin coating of anything you want protected. End of worry and easy to clean off.
